Did our usual hubby ran the 4 miles to the park and I join him using the car then he uses my ‘run’ as a warm down. Did my first 5k last week on the treadmill 54.48, today at the park my first outdoor 5k and managed to knock 48 secs off my time. Also had my first SW weigh last night and managed to lose 5.5lbs hopefully 1/2 st award next week.
Any tips on post run cramps even doing stretches and warm down walk etc, as soon as I stop to get in the car my left calf locks and the pain is excruciating. 😆😆😆
Well done! Pb on your first outdoor 5k is great! Good luck for your first half stone award. I’ve lost just over a stone with SW and 2 stone before I joined. Keep going
Thanks Peeps, feeling a tad sore this morning lol. X
Wow both fabulous results for you Pigginanna! 👏👏👏 Bet you’re chuffed as ninepence (what that phrase means, I have no idea! 😅)
As regards cramps, are you hydrating enough the day before you run, and are you warming up adequately pre-run and stretching enough post-run? And have you had a gait analysis done? Might it be your trainers?
Anyway, you’re doing brilliantly and you should be soooo proud of yourself! 😀🏃♀️😀
I do a decent warm up/down hubby runs half marathons so he gets me doing the stuff he does for them. I had my gait done a couple of weeks ago and appropriate shoes bought. Now drinking that is a problem I have I never drink enough I work in a school kitchen and we are majorly under staffed at the mo so we barely get time to think nevermind drink!!! So that’s prob not helping, I will try to drink more. Thanks Hun. X
That’s a huge improvement on your time! 👏👏👏 hope you sort out the cramps soon. Not much to add to cheeky’s suggestions except perhaps try a banana (or something else with a good amount of potassium in it) and make sure you are getting enough calcium in your diet if you are restricting intake 👍
