Feeling deflated

Only got to W2R2 but was absolutely loving it (found it hard but good to have some me time). Just been away for the week & didn’t find time to run as wanted to spend time with my young children, I was fine with that. However, since getting home I’ve had a cold & a sickness bug, nearly been 2 weeks & still don’t feel well enough to run. Really gutted that I might have ruined my hard work so far 😢

Don't beat yourself up about it, it's not your fault if you've been busy and unwell. Week 2 is still quite early on in the journey so when you do feel well enough to run again, it won't take you long to get back to where you used to be. Do you think you'd be able to build yourself back up to running by doing some walking/speed walking for 30 minutes in the mean time? After all, couch to 5k is all about being more active rather than being a strict runner :)

Thank you so much for the reply! I was very active whilst away. We went to longleat centre parcs which is so hilly. I have a 3 year old & 7 month old so have still been out walking the last couple of days when I’ve felt up to it. I really enjoyed the running part so far so fingers crossed your right & keeping active will help me to keep going ☺️

Let’s get you pumped back up then.

Two weeks won’t have undone all the work, but if we’re pessimistic and say you start again, you have the big advantage of knowing that you can do it... so even if you’ve lost physical fitness when you come back, you haven’t lost anything mentally. I’d say attempt the run you were due to do, you may well be surprised.

Now, the fact you’re gutted about this says you care, and you’re determined to do this... and that tells me that you will do this, you have everything that it takes.

Thank you so much for your reply - it’s given me the kick up the bum I needed & I (almost) feel like going for a run now haha!! I’m so eager to beat these germs & get back out there & like you said even if I have to go back over a bit it’s still better than nothing. Honestly thank you so much ☺️

Just read where you’ve been... some of those hills are even tiring on the land-train! Last time I was there I had one of those bikes with half a bike behind for the little one, and we were at the far end of the site... felt like I was ready for the Tour de France after a week there 😂

2 weeks away wont have affected your progress ... you should stop be ok to continue from where you were.. obviously making sure you are fully recovered.

It can't be helped so don't be so hard on yourself. Look after yourself running will still be here..

Hope you are Feeling better soon 😀

My 2 little ones are around the same age-for me c25k is about some me time and breathing in some fresh air and letting any stresses go!! So don't feel too caught up that your behind, get better then enjoy getting back out there and having a break away from mummy life! you'll be back on track in no time!!

Thanks for everyone’s lovely replies! It took me a while to feel well enough to run but I’ve been back at it for a week & love it all over again. I started again from the beginning but managed a much faster pace & felt more comfortable. Back onto week 2 now ☺️ xx
