Ok, so some of you may have read about my Toe Incident. I was able to continue running throughout, and it gave me no problems.
However. I must have subconsciously altered my gait, and after my parkrun on Saturday my previously mild/dormant PF flared right up in my left heel. I had a hobbly weekend.
It’s gradually subsiding and I’ve ordered a pair of compression socks to wear along with my gel heel support and insoles, so I’ll be all ready to nip it in the bud next time - but I’m NOT GOING TO RUN THIS WEEK.
You hear that?
(😩😩😩😩😩😩😩😩)
There’s no parkrun next weekend as there’s a festival in it, so I’ll resume next Monday.
There, I’ve said it.
If anyone sees a cheekychipmunk trotting around with a dog strapped to her waist, tell her to go home and stop being daft.
I won’t though, promise. 👍
Thanks VRB’s! ❤️❤️

We'll be watching...! Disguised as bushes, hidden up trees...hiding in litter bins
Seriously, very sensible. Listening to our body is the best guide.. and there is the certain knowledge that the runs will still be there, and still be waiting
Oh dear so that dragged on... you must be wise yes. And lf you get naughty thoughts lock them up cos if you strain it further, you might have to postpone ANY running for MUCH LONGER!! no...!
A week off is better than months off , so stick to your guns and you’ll be back out there soon. Keep up the yoga( in a larger space ) so everything is nice and stretched.
100% Beanjo. I’d never forgive myself if I really did some damage. But it’s already way better than yesterday, so I’m confident that by next Monday I’ll be good to go! 🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️
Thanks Jelon. It was so painful yesterday, but I’m happy to say it feels way better today. I know that by next Monday I’ll thank myself for taking the week off. Gentle dog walks instead! 🐕😀
I was able to run through a tight heel which started in W2 and lasted a few weeks, and prior to my toe injury it was pain free - but it must a weakness of mine. Altering my gait (I assume) due to my toe resurrected it and it was painful after parkrun. Boo. 👎 Still, it’s way better today so I’m hopeful the week off will fix it. 🤞 😀
Thanks UNM. Yes you’re probably right there. I have literally run 3 times a week (more sometimes) since mid June! A little break is probably a good idea. Only a little one though! 😀
Absolutely the right decision cheeky, I know it's tough, I hated taking time off for my knee but the time goes quickly and once you're addicted to running that's it and you'll be back very soon.
Glad to hear it's already healing and good luck for the rest of the week.😁
Thank you CH! I’m wearing my compression sock during the day (should I be wearing both??) and my heel is so much less painful than at the weekend. I’ll be good to go next Monday! Missing running already - can’t believe it! 😅🏃♀️
Aww, thanks for asking! I’ve been very good, promise! 😇 My toe is much better and so is my heel, so tomorrow’s the day - a gentle (and I mean gentle) trot out in the morning. I’ll aim for 4k and see how it feels. 😀
I really want to do parkrun again next Saturday, so fingers crossed everything holds up! 🤞 😀
Oh goooood! But keep your options open: if you feel discomfort, be flexible about your distance/time. You don't HAVE to do 4k. Trot is a good idea. Nice and easy !!
