I used to take part in trail runs a few years ago when I jogged regular and was way fitter lol. I'm only half way through Wk4 but I've hit the enter button on a 5k trail run in the Lake District, mid Oct. I'll not be able to run up the hills, but I will enjoy running what I can (they are soo much fun with mud and puddles and hills with different running surfaces, such a good atmosphere with music etc too) I'll also get a nice technical T-shirt which will fit, my old ones are way too tight and got chucked a long time ago I think Ive lost a screw somewhere!!! You guys are to blame along with this programme haha.

Best of luck with your forthcoming 5k trail🏃I know that will enjoy it😊🏃😀
Go you! The Lakes are so beautiful, I hope you have a great time. We will want to hear all about it 😊
Sounds like fun. Why go for a regular 5k when a 5k trail run can kick your ass much better?! You’re gonna love it and run what you can, no pressure, nothing to prove... we all know you got it.
Keep going, slow and steady and you will enjoy the whole experience
Wow that sounds like fun and seriously hardcore in the Lake District! You realise we’ll need a full-on report complete with pics don’t you?
In the meantime have fun continuing on with the programme. You’re smashing it! 👏👏👏
A 5K in the Lakes - WOW! That could be absolutely stunning. As you know, the scenery is truly awesome and the terrain anything between lakeside-flat to the polar-opposite. Enjoy the experience, let us know how it went and if you could post a picture, that would be wonderful.
Last time we were in the lakes [unbeknownst to us at the time] a certain Kilian Jornet smashed the Bob Graham Round. No one knew he was going for it, but to be in the area whilst he did it sends a tingle down my spine.
Have a great time, come back muddy and aching-limbed, and with adrenaline pumping. Good luck.
I did the same thing last year (but with a different race) and it was awesome. It totally hooked me on trail running and I'll be running my first 10k trail race tomorrow, am tossing around a 12.5k trail race next month and planning on a 20k trail race next year. I love the feeling of accomplishment, that the pressure of running faster is non existent given the challenging terrain and that you know you'll need to walk parts of it and that is A-ok. The race I'm doing is one of 4 different distances on race day and even the crazy 50k ultramarathon runners are walking those same hills as I am so know I'm in good company 😁. There was a video posted on Facebook earlier this year of one of them cursing how much they hated this f'n hill which put a huge smile on my face since I tend to say the same thing as I'm trekking up the hills despite being all grins when I'm done and planning my next trail run 😂🙄😜
Well done. Its nice to run something different.
