Just done W1R3 and my knees are aching.

I’ve never had knee problems at all - was more worried about my lungs as I’m asthmatic .

Anyone else had this? Maybe it’s the shock of taking up running!!

Are you running on tarmac?

When I did c25k originally I had sore knees

So tried trails as I find the ground much softer, stopped the sore knees

It’s a gravel path/trail

It is extremely common to have aches in joints, muscles and bones in the first few weeks, mainly due to your body not being used to the impact of running

To reduce the impact slow down, run on grass or treadmill, avoid heelstriking, keep footfall under your body not out in front and wear proper running shoes fitted after a gait analysis done at a specialist running shop.

Thanks- I’m going to visit a running shop and will try and run on the grass

My knees were sore for the first 4 weeks then realised this week when I started week 5 that the soreness had gone.

Was never too bad when running, more so at rest.

I found pacing things a little slower made a big difference. Loads of good advice around: hope you soon find what works for you. Happy running !

Hi - exactly the same for me! I went to running shop and got running shoes that suited my gait. We’re all different. Immediately helped. No pain since. I’m a bit flat footed and needed extra support. Was v relieved!

Best of luck! 👍

That’s helpful thanks! Hoping running on grass might help too. On a positive note, my lungs have coped so well which I’m massively relieved about!
