Morning, starting week 7 today and just want to check if it’s normal for my knees and hips to be quite achey, there’s no feeling of damage, just an ache. Is this one of the things of being a runner???
Thanks
Mark

Yes its normal to have some aches and pains as your body adjusts to the forces of running. However, there are things you an do to help:Make sure you take your rest days, Stretch after a run, make sure you warm-up and down for at least 5 minutes, and get yourself a foam roller.
Definitely making the most of rest days now, was playing squash on some of my off days and regretted that!!!!
Yes, pretty much normal, if it gets a bit much have another day or so rest, if it's just mild stuff you can run through it slowly and it feels better..
Most of my newbie aches had subsided by W7, but we all start from different places. I don't think squash can be considered a non impact exercise.
An extra rest day may help. Just be aware of it in case it indicates something else. The chances are it will be a vague memory in a couple of weeks. Stretching nhs.uk/Livewell/c25k/Pages/... after every run is essential in my opinion.
Hello. I am on week 7 run 2, and have noticed my knees ache a week bit more than they have done previously. I am taking more time on my stretches after now, and am considering an extra rest day this week.
A running friend of mine suggested working on core strength on rest days to avoid hip pain. She had a hip injury that took her out for a while, but part of her recuperation plan was doing planks. Now she she says she has no bother with her hips.
I believe I've developed some knee arthritis as I am now 47 years...so I assume I will have it..especially now since I am part of running community. It is no manifest...I try not to overdue running and take adequate rest days y limit the damage and run I years to come!
