Well I've done it at last and it wasn't too bad. But 60 seconds felt an awfully long time! Am I too old at 65 to start on this?

No, you're the perfect age for starting it! Well done on getting started, you won't believe how quickly you improve. Enjoy it!

Never too old. I started running only 3 years ago and I am 56. Ok I will never be speedy but I have noticed I prefer endurance to speedy any day. I used to struggle for 60 seconds and never thought I would reach the end of 9 week, but I did it and now regularly run 10ks. So no one is ever too young, Enjoy it.

Nope. Plenty of us over sixties on here! You won't regret it.

Welcome! Don't worry about 60 seconds feeling hard. I started the program last June near my 33rd birthday. I assure you, 60 seconds felt hard for me too :). The program is amazing, it builds you up nice and slowly and before you know it you'll be running 30 minutes.

I think the achievements along the way are all the more satisfying. Well worth it, you will amaze your friends/family but more importantly you will be giving yourself some fabulous feelings. Remember, it is absolutely not the point at all to be the fastest or run the furthest or race through the programme the quickest. The goal is actually not to graduate- it is to get off the couch and keep getting off the couch, so well done you for beginning to do that! Feels great doesn't it! Yes, 60 seconds feels an awfully long time- but you did it and your body will be waking up, taking notice and getting ready for that next round- well done!

I'm a mere 54 yo btw.

😀

Well done. There is no such thing as to old. I started running just over a year ago and run regular 10K now and am planning a half marathon in spring next year. I will turn 57 this month. I know I won't be the fastest and it won't be easy but I will be training for it and no matter how long it takes I will finish and to me that's what matters.

Enjoy your running that is what is important not how fast or how far

Well done. We need more of our age group to take up C25K. I'm a 66 yr old female and can managed 6k slowly on a good day. Keep going and enjoy

Echo all of the above. Take it slow and have maybe two rest days in between. Above all enjoy, I love it and I'm 60!

Nope, you are not too old. I started early this year at 68. As far as I am concerned I feel good running at 68 so it is a fallacy that older people can't do what younger people can. My hubby did not want me to do it as he worried at my age I would hurt myself. I proved him wrong. Go for it. Enjoy life. I know 1 minute running is very hard but you will surprise yourself. You will be amazed when you run 3 and 5 minutes, then 8, and eventually the exhilarating 20.... It is magic. Just listen to Laura. Take it easy. Have a rest day in between. AND buy yourself some nifty gear, then you just have to carry on....

Thanks for all the encouragement everyone. I have only slightly aching legs this morning - just enough to feel that I actually did something yesterday!

Well done you! I only started last month and I'm over 60 too. Some days it has felt so hard and I ache all over, but I'm determined to run the Reading Half Marathon next year, even if I walk it! We will both get there, you go girl!!

Age is just a number so crack on ! We have quite a few here in their 60's and 70's. I think Baz is probably our most senior runner. I'm soon to be 58.

Running makes you feel alive! When you are out there in the wind and rain you feel energised, rejuvenated even! It's a blast!

Just go steady, nice and slowly, so you'll have enough puff to finish the session. 60 seconds isn't a long time! It really isn't. You'll see! Just stick with it and the rewards will be all yours!

Just keep running even if it's a shuffle at the end. You can say to yourself that you DID run that minute and you feel so proud!! It's great. I'm 63 and re-started a few weeks ago. I have to say in week three I did feel Laura's watch had stopped but I hobbled on to the end and it feels great. Just go ahead you're doing really well, After all you jolly well got out there👍👍👍

Absolutely NOT = just listen to Laura - don't do anything if it hurts - make sure you have a rest day - and think of it like a roundabout, you can always go around again, you don't have to move to the next week until you are ready. I am on week 3 and love it - I ain't no youngster either xx Keep going.

I'm amazed at all the support I'm receiving. I need to do my next session tomorrow as Monday I'm just too busy. So I'll report back after that. Happy running everyone!

No such thing as too old! :) Very well done for getting started and yes, at the start, 60 seconds is a ridiculously long time! As I have said many times before, I had to get my husband to pause the app in W1 so that I could sit down and catch my breath!!! Back then I couldn't run for 60 seconds, now I can contentedly run for 60 minutes! I only started in May!
