Trust in the programme, it may seem daunting but it works, don’t go off like a March hare, slow steady pacing will get you through.

And the best advice? ENJOY every minute!

Happy running 🏃🏻‍♂️👍🏻

Welcome to wonderful world of c25k.🙂

The best advice, first off definitely read the guide IannodaTruffe has posted a link to.

Then on with the trainers and start the programme. 👟🏃‍♀️

Two tips you'll hear over and over, are slow down and lots of hydration. Sounds easy but so many of us struggle to actually do it. Start slow then go slow slower. Still struggling? Slower still.

Enjoy 😃😃😃

Slow and steady, and really enjoy the whole thing...:) If you post your runs, there will be encouragement and support... :)

Your journey, your way....but with all of us running with you :) Perfect eh?

Here are my tips ....

1) be committed - work out how you will do this. I found running with another beginner once a week was great motivation and then followed up with agreement to do a sponsored park run

2) follow the programme - even if you think you can do more, don’t. The programme works - I am absolutely astounded I can now run 5K. If I can, you definitely can.

3) take a look at your trainers - they are going to be your best friend in this - they can make you or break you so make sure they are up to the job. I suffered swollen ankles til I got a gait analysis and new trainers. They weren’t cheap but they really didn’t cost the earth. They are worth every penny.

4) don’t run if you are really tired, hungover or poorly. But check you are being honest with yourself - remember it will probably be harder next time you run - it’s called payback!

5) be well hydrated before you run otherwise it’s tough, but equally don’t drink too much.

6)if you get an injury don’t give up but do rest up. It’s just a blip. I suffered swollen ankles, calf injury and gave up for 4 weeks because of the heat. You can get back on it but if you need to go back a week or even two like I did.

7) remember - you can do this. Be proud you even started

I’d wish you luck, but you don’t need it 😁

Edit: I spoke to you in another forum... you definitely have what it takes to do this!

Welcome on board. Definitely enjoy your time running and sharing on the forum. I’m in week 9 and the time has certainly flown by. All the best for the programme.

Agree with all the above and my advice is to use this forum. I found it invaluable in terms of support and encouragement. All the advice is so useful.. I still think about things I've read on here and often repeat little mantras to myself as I run. Your journey will be unique to you.. we all have different goals and aims for our running. But you will always find people on here with similar goals. And your journey will progress and your goals will change. Mine went from completing c25k to continuing to run through the winter...which I did, using this forum for support when the going got tough!! I then did Ju Jus 10 is the Magic Number and can now run 10k. I now belong to a Parkrun improvers running group which I love. For me it is about being out there doing it in whatever way suits you. But take friends with you. .. all these virtual friends on here are very real to me. Running is great.. the friends you meet on the way are amazing. Enjoy every step of your journey.. believe in yourself but use others for support. Happy Running xx
