W6r1 almost a fail

So I managed the 20 min run on w5r3.. but really struggled on the 8 min section of the first run this week. Everything hurt, I was struggling to breathe and really felt like giving up. Glad to say I stuck it out, but I'm now terrified that I won't be able to complete the 25 min run at the end of this week. Please tell me this gets easier 🙁

Hi Anna,

YES it gets easier. You have done brilliantly to complete the 20 minutes, but you were ready for it because you'd trained for it. I never thought I could do it either, but I somehow managed it. This plan really does work you know.

I remember having to dig deep for my 20 minutes. Week 6 is challenging because you're back to intervals, but please believe in yourself, if you follow the plan, you'll be fine. Just remember to pace yourself, and if it's getting too much, slow down. I recently celebrated my first year of running, I still forget that sometimes, but it does work.

You'll get there, I know it.

All the best,

Neil

It gets easier... more challenging in duration, but physically easier.

I don’t see the almost a fail bit... you started the run, there’s no fail from that point. You struggled, you hurt, your breathing was off, you felt like quitting... you dug deep and completed. Far from a near fail, that’s a double victory. Great job.

Don’t be terrified. Relax and run it nice and slow. If you go for it there’s no fail... a 22 minute run would be a workout towards defeating that 25 minutes, it can never be a fail. You can do 25... relax, believe, run.

I think alot of people struggle with w6r1 because they are so psyched up for w5r3 that it odd being back to intervals again. The point is you did it and you can do the whole programme👍, you've made it this far. 😊
