Tomorrow’s D Day

September always feels like turning over a new leaf, so does a Monday...so tomorrow is the day, my day to start my Couch to 5k challenge.

I’ve bought my Bluetooth headphones, I’ve got the app and my leggings are hung over the banister ready for the morning (all the gear but no idea comes to mind).

I’m nervous but excited in the same measure. I know I’ll be embarrassed of others judging me, my body, my fitness, my red face, but we’ve all got to start somewhere, right.

Has anybody got any wise words for me to cling onto as I step out tomorrow?x

Take it slow and if you are out of breath then slow down some more. Have a look at the things others have written on here, we all talk about going really slow and that's the key. Don't worry about other people, those who run will understand and those who don't... Who cares, at least you are giving it a go! Just do your best tomorrow and you'll get there, it will be the best thing you'll ever do. Good luck and keep us posted 😀

I don’t know about wise words, but probably those people will be looking at you and thinking, ‘Wow, I wish I could do that...I wish I was that brave...maybe I could do it too.’ Go for it Sausagedog90 and enjoy every moment of your success! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

This is all about taking time out for you! You’re so right, we have to start somewhere and you’ll be oh so pleased that you did. Go slow and enjoy every minute of it. Don’t give a hoot about judgement, your showing everyone that for once, this is simply about you. 🙌🏽🙌🏽🤩

If it takes a red face to get to where you want to go, absolutely love that red face! 😍 Because it means you’re doing it!!

Posting on the forum means we can cheer you on and celebrate . It helps you through any challenges that may arise too. You can guarantee someone will have been there too and everyone is so encouraging. Best wishes! You can do it!! Enjoy! 😁❤️

Go out there proud of your commitment to yourself and smash it!! We are all nervous about transformation from our norm. But, we oh so have the power to be different and create a new norm!! Have fun and go sloooow and we do mean sloooow. This is our C25K mantra! 🐌 🐌 And it serves us very well indeed! 😁❤️

This is about building up your body to become a great runner. It’s not about torturing yourself to get through. It’s about giving your body the tools to run a little bit better and a little bit longer every time you go out there! Slowly! It’s a change for life, so no need for it to be rushed. My top tip is don’t get swept along with a focus on your pace and whether it’s fast enough. And if you can’t resist, try to make your focus on going as slow as you can! 🐌 🐌 🐌

It might sound weird, but I used to think, if this was a race, I’m deliberately trying to be last. Last is the gold medal on this journey 🥇 So I was ready for any so called embarrassment and judgement from the public! None came at all, but it made my running full of humour. People are more impressed than you think. You’re running, they’re not! I was and still am a very happy runner, injury free. “Out there, don’t care” is my personal mantra from this journey! Feel free to have it too!! 😉❤️

Enjoy yourself! 😀😀😀 No-one will be judging you - other runners will think good for you, non-runners will think they should be out there too!

Have a bunch of fun - it’s a fantastic programme and this forum is second to none in terms of friendliness!

Embrace your inner snail if you ever feel you’re struggling. 🐌 You’ll feel tired but awesome after each run.

Just go out and enjoy yourself and remember to tell us all how you get on! 👏👏😀😀

I hope you did this morning your first run of this incredible journey. I am starting today after work :) well re-starting, but as I am kind of back to square one, I'll be doing W1R1 as well.
