Lol. Exactly what i thought on jan 5th this year 4 stone over Weight. And june 17th fathers day completed a triathlon came 35th out of 200 people. You will get there but its baby steps nothing is gonna drastically happen over night. Im 14 stone now and never felt better. My 5k time went from 31mins to 22now. Stick to it commitment and discipline

The first run they say is the worst, you are now on the way to much healthier lifestyle, you will not be so knackered after your second run/walk in two days time

Give it time. Don’t throw the towel in, it’s early days and your body is adjusting, so it would feel hard, yet it’s doable. I felt the same way after my first run. However, I’m the sort that would not let it beat me! Dig deep get your fighting shoes on and fight back.

Trust what I say, it will get easier. Keep at it, if I can do it so can you.🙂

First run is the hardest in some respects so well done for getting it done.

Yes, it's challenging. But it's supposed to be challenging. The couch is comfy but it's not healthy to stay there. Exercise when you're not used to it is uncomfortable at first but unless you are in actual sharp pain, it's not unhealthy. Aches from muscles that are surprised at being used are OK but if you think you have an actual injury stop until it heals. Just stick to the programme, always take the rest days and don't push harder than you need to. Remember you only need to run. You do NOT repeat NOT need to run fast. As long as it's a running action and not walking, go as slowly as you need to, to get the job done.

If you doubt that C25k has major health benefits just spend some time browsing the forum and see the experiences people have. It's not like some of those pyramid selling miracle cures: remember this costs nothing, nobody is getting rich out of it, nobody has any reason to lie about it. For myself - OK I wasn't exactly 'couch' as I do walk a lot but I had never run before, and when I started this programme I was 58 years old and 2 stone overweight. In less than four months my resting heart rate has dropped by 10-15 points and running 5k is no big deal (OK it takes me a bit more than 30 minutes but who cares?) - yet I found the first run back on 3 May pretty hard going. I had to psyche myself up for that first run for a day or two and rested most of the rest of the day but now if it's a day to run 5k I don't think about it, I just put my running shoes on and run 5k then it's done and I go and do something else. If you have very serious health issues then that's different, of course you see the doc first before starting something like this if you have a heart condition or something like that. And if you can't walk comfortably then focus on that first, get to the point where you can walk for 30 minutes without stopping then come back and do this. But for most people - it's a great programme, it costs nothing except the cost of decent running shoes (though they're not cheap, to be fair!) and the benefits to both physical and mental health are huge.

First run was a real shocker for me too. Stick with it and you’ll be amazed how far you’ll get. Good luck and happy running.

Oh sweetie what a shame you didn't have a good first run, maybe your next one will crack it for you?? I would say give it all you can..as long as you're not injured!! Fingers crossed for an awesome experience on your next run 😊👍

Slooow down and then slow down some more. Running does not have to be faster than walking. I am pretty sure it is good for you no matter how slowly you go ;-)

Let's see, lowered resting heart beat, lower blood pressure, combined with a good diet, weight loss. Lower chance with all of the above, of developing type two diabetes. Improved levels of self esteem, mental health, stress and less reliance on asthma medication as you get fitter.

And your other half might like the way your legs get toned... 😉

😂

If nearly kills you it must be good... the song goes what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger! Of course while I was running it I was thinking of a different song... that that doesn’t kill you, is gonna leave a scar.

It’s so hard starting out... well done... give it a few weeks and you’ll see the many ways in which this is good for you.

You only need go very slowly. The jogging bits are very short so you know its not many seconds to go before you get to walk

It’s an amazing programme and can change your life but only if you give it a good go 💪
