My pain is self-chosen...

Ha! Doesn't my iTunes just find the best lyrics for running?! ;)

The other day it played a Nirvana Unplugged song just when I finished my first Week 2 run. The song started with the audience applauding. It was perfect timing!

Anyway, here is today's running log. This morning was a wash-out, so I had to postpone till the afternoon. I wasn't in the mood – and I'm still not. But I did it, yay me!

Main bummer was that, after the first 90-secs run, I took a sip of my usual water/coconut water mix and the coco had gone disgustingly nuts. So I didn't have anything to drink. But I'd drunk plenty beforehand and I was determined to go on. Not optimal, though.

Time: 4.30pm

Goal: just get out and finish the that run

Weather conditions: 17° (felt warmer), cloudy – it had rained cats and dogs earlier but it was dry during the run

Track conditions: Chalkwell Beach sidepath, usual pavement track

Physical before-mood: fairly energetic, still feeling slight tightness in my lower back and left knee from the run two days ago

Physical after-mood: sweaty, tired but not exhausted – more energised after drinking water, doing some NHS knee exercises for runners and having a shower

Mental before-mood: bit stressed about a deadline, not really in the mood for running but gotta be done

Mental after-mood: bit anxious, feel like I should be proud but I can't be arsed

Ailments while running: slight pulling pain in left knee and left arm (getting that checked out tomorrow)

Add to running playlist:

Mad Season – Above: youtu.be/HLRBdr1HZfQ

Mad Season – River of Deceit: youtu.be/Swxw2t-9ir4

Take-aways:

• Get running gear for rainy days

• Check drink for drinkability before leaving the house

I'm gonna go and lay down now. :)

Bit confused, Marie. You posted yesterday about knee pain and got a fair few responses saying "Don't run when you're in pain. Stop running until it's been sorted out." And you ran today anyway? I wouldn't have thought that was wise under the circumstances.

Have I missed something? And you're still writing about "ailments while running". If you're in pain, don't run.

You're right but I didn't think the tightness in the knees was anything to worry about too much. Turns out it's osteoarthritis and with a couple of injections I'm fine to go :)
