Feeling good

Last run of week 7 this morning. Really enjoyable, even though I don't think I was going particularly fast. Just a steady rhythm that felt comfortable with. In fact I carried on and did 28 minutes just to see if I could 🤗

Looking forward to week 8.

I'm wearing a lightweight budget pair of shoes from Mountain Warehouse which are very comfortable, except for the top of my right foot which aches after running. Should I go for gait analysis and possibly more expensive shoes? My OH doesn't seem to think it's worth it. Would appreciate comments from more experienced runners. Thanks

Sounds like you're doing fine. Have you tried re-lacing your right shoe to give you a bit more room? Can't post a picture in a reply, but you can find some diagrams here: mikeeasley.co.uk/wordpress/...

The high arch one looks like it might be worth a try.

BRILLIANT! Ran without pain this morning after a

OH spent 30 minutes re-lacing my right shoe. Thanks so much. I shall stick with these shoes till the soles wear out and then go for gait analysis.

Also wanted to thank you for the half banana tip. I'm sure it gave me extra va va voom💨

Sounds like you are doing great! Bring on week 8!

All I can say about shoes, is that when I got a gait analysis and a new pair of shoes a few little aches and pains just kinda went away. You are running longer distances now, so any ‘issues’ will become more apparent now. For some people a proper pair of shoes makes a huge difference. Good ones can make you feel more springy too and that’s nice.

Good luck with week 8, jeez just think only 6 more runs to go! 😎

Thanks for the reply. I'm going to my local Run Company tomorrow to have my gait analysis. Never run on a treadmill before so have visions of toppling off and giving everyone a good laugh! If you buy shoes then it's free but otherwise they charge £15. Sounds fair and I'm hoping to get some useful info on why one foot aches. (Will obviously have credit card with me 🤔)

Enjoy the experience. Go for whatever feels good, ignore prices (they can affect our subconscious about what feels good), ask lots of questions and check out the clearance shoe section too.

btw it’s customary to add a post with a picture of your new shoes on here.
