Hi everyone, thought it was about time I set myself a challenge. My fitness has always been bad so what best way to help me improve, completing this.

Any tips from fellows that fitness was zero about starting would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks

M

Welcome! My fitness was definitely zero, did C25K and fitness is good! Take all the runs slowly, drink an insane amount of water even on non-running days, and you'll be fine. Good luck!

I was at zero fitness and am about to finish week 7. Follow the programme exactly as it is and you’ll be fine. And keep checking in on this forum - it is really inspiring and motivational to read 😁

No advice as only started in week 1 but happy to be C25K buddies to help each other

Please check this post out before starting... Loads of advice, tried and tested there.

The mantra is slow and steady.. it works. Listen to your body, which will complain... rest days, non negotiable... extra non impact strength and stamina exercise on some rest days is useful too.

Keep posting your runs for sympathy, empathy, encouragement and support!!

Huge well done!

Smile! Sure you’re going to find it sweaty and harder work than you expected (especially in the first weeks), but stick with it. Other advice...run really slowly (think trot or jog don’t think run), go out when it’s cool if possible, trot /jog on fairly flat surfaces (avoid hills if possible), hydrate and keep posting and reading posts on here - they really help.

Btw it’s great to have you along for a run.
