So after 2 weeks off running following surgery on my shoulder I got back to it this morning...
I was part dreading it (could I still run, should I drop back a week or two in the C25K, should I just carry on from where I was up to, what if it was really hard?) and part excited (who'd have thought a few months ago... me being excited about running!) to be back out there.
Well, I nervously went out, glad it was cooler than recent weeks, glad I was at home and so running my nice flat route around the lake and the five minute warm up walk felt hard... oh dear - what if I only make it to 10 minutes??? I'd worked so hard to crack the 28 minutes of running in week 8 but now even walking felt challenging.
And then something really strange happened... Sarah told me to start running and I did, and almost immediately I found my rhythm (odd as that normally takes me at least 5 minutes), all the nagging aches I'd had (a knee, a hip, my shins) had gone with two weeks rest and I kept going and going and going...
I made it to the 30 minutes, I enjoyed it and I'm on my way to graduating
I did 1.5 loops of the lake (3.75km) and finished as far away as possible from my house... cue 15 minutes of walking to get back home.... but I've done my first ever 30 minute run
Riding high on the endorphins now, such a great start to the weekend. Fingers crossed the last 2 runs in week 9 feel like this too and then I can focus on getting up to the 5k distance.
Hope you are all enjoying your runs, happy weekend everyone.
