No records except the weather’

OK, so who, in their right mind, takes up running during the hottest summer on record, then goes out at the start of the hottest weekend of the hottest summer to run 5k?! Temperature forecast to hit 40c in the Dordogne today and had to have the fan on overnight to keep cool so it didn’t bode well. However, I hadn’t run since Monday and I don’t want to have too long a break at this early stage, so I donned running gear and headed out just after 7, sun already shining in a cloudless sky. Needless to say, it was my slowest 5k yet at just over 37 minutes, I had to walk the uphill bits and by the end I was like a river, but at least I got out there and did it. Can’t wait for the cooler weather - it should be a breeze! Happy running everybody

Thanks Sue. Looking forward to hopefully cooler days back in Lincolnshire in September. You probably have more hills than I do - I don’t do hills!

Thanks Jelon! Rest of the day spent indoors sheltering from the furnace and now just getting cool enough to venture outside again!

Good post... just you and many of us crazy enough to start in the heat, not an Olympic year so I dunno where we got the idea!

Good time all things considered, keep on enjoying running.

Thanks! Crazily hot today so just venturing outside again, but no doubt I will be out running again in a couple of days because I’ve worked so hard to get here!
