First run in new trainers...

It was my second run with the love running intermediate group and my first run with new trainers!

Firstly the new shoes are so comfortable. My feet are so very happy with me! They still have the support of the old ones but are much softer under foot which is great for roads! And most importantly they have room for my toes!! Totally worth the money even though my 'old' ones were basically new.

Now the run this week was cooler shorter and most importantly flatter! There were still inclines but they were short enough to just keep going. I did feel at about half way round I was getting a stitch, but I was given a top tip by the group back markers (and my cheer squad) take a deep breath in while raising your arms up and then bring them down while exhaling quickly! I'm not sure how much it helped as there was a light controlled crossing soon after! Either way the stitch didn't happen 😁

Then we had a nice flat / downhill to km 3. Km 3-4 was a nice flat run along the river unfortunately past the pub with the v good dirty burgers 🤤 then came Km 4-4.926 all inclines and flats not a down in sight! Every incline the back markers/ cheer squad spurred me on with whoop whoops and dodgy singing! Although my breathing got a bit shallow I managed to pick up my pace on the last flat and across the finish line.

I will confess to walking down some steps near the beginning! I'm too clumsy when running to do otherwise (though oddly fine to run down steps when walking).

Other than that almost 5k in almost 40 min!

Whoop whoop!!

Don’t think I’ll ever run down steps, I don’t have the greatest track record in practice at home lol

Good job

Exactly! I've had two very nasty sprains that took months to fully recover from due to not being careful enough on out side steps. I'm not taking any chances!

Well done wannabe. Yes I thought my new runners must have had springs in their soles as I could feel such a difference from my cheap trainers. 😃👟

Shoes are the one thing I'd recommend to new runners. More important than anything else apart from determination. 4K is a nice distance until your body says do further.
