Running in the Rain
Slow... steady.... and SPLASH!!!!!!
Same as running in the dry - but far more enjoyable! I love running in the rain!
I ran in the rain for the first time this evening! (Started running 10 months ago!!) I never deliberately avoided it! But this evening I couldn’t resist it!!
T shirt and shorts!! I left my glasses and phone at home so had no music! I loved it! My shoes were very squelchy but at least they got a good clean!! 😀
It’s very refreshing compared to the heat we’ve had, enjoy it 😊🏃♀️🌧
Run.
Get wet.
😂 Joking aside, running in the rain is actually very enjoyable as it helps cool you down, making the run slightly easier. Might be different in winter though when it's icy cold. I don't let the rain put me off and I haven't cancelled a run yet for any reason, though I have to say I didn't relish going out running in recent hot weather. ☀️🌡️
On a practical point, if you wear glasses then a peaked cap would be handy to keep the rain off. Otherwise just go and run. While it's still warm don't think about a jacket as you will be just as wet using one as without (even breathable jackets don't work that well when it's warm and wet). Enjoy!
The only time that I've suffered from the dreaded runners' nipple (x)(x) is when running in the rain. So if you have 'technical' running tops, try to pick one that's got some room in it, and use a smidge of vaseline before you go out.
Apart from that, don't over-dress. You'll be plenty warm enough. And another vote for a cap if you wear glasses.
I started wearing short Lycra leggings in March/April, despite the cold as full length ones were too hard to wrestle out of when they were soaking wet! I never regretted it and loved the looks on people’s faces as I trotted past in the driving rain, smiling at their raincoats and wellies. I had a bright pink cap on for my glasses. I am still wearing exactly the same now and welcome the rain. Enjoy!
Where did you get your cap? Sounds like I might need one too - I wear glasses.
It is an old Nike one I bought for golf years ago, it has a decent sized brim for my glasses and mesh bits so it doesn’t get too hot. I leave my hearing aids at home as the sweat isn’t good for them, never mind the rain!
Enjoy!! It is the most fab feeling!
