Longest run. Ever! πŸ˜±πŸ™Œ

I wore my ice towel like a scarf, round my neck (obvs!) and tucked into the straps of my vest top - Yummer! Combined with the pelting rain (have discovered I L❀VE running in heavy rain!) I kept Kewl πŸ€“πŸ˜Ž My sumo squats must have paid off by strengthening my thighs, as toxic 15 was only toxic 7!! 😱 And I ran continuously for FORTY minutes!! πŸ™ŒπŸ‘ŠπŸ™Œ The longest I have ever run. Ever. 😬

Well done Flara....amazing! What are these towels everyone's talking about? X

Flaraflarkin profile image
FlaraflarkinGraduate in reply to Saartjie

Saartjie They're microfibre ice towels from Amazon 3 for Β£3 😜 Whilst they're wet they stay cool - they're great, particularly post run for me (also good for hot flushes!) πŸ™„

Might have to look those up if they work!

OMG πŸ˜ƒπŸ‘πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

Take care though. It’s so easy to get over exuberant on your newly found running legs. They’re not built yet so take things steady

Running in the rain is wonderfully cooling in this humid, sticky weather. If you’ve not got a lightweight run jacket - one with a hood is a boon - I’d get one. They are cheap as chips. You can pop it on post run as you can soon get the chills once you’ve stopped running I tie mine round my waist πŸ‘

Thanks misswobble im taking it steady, been stuck at 30minutes and really needed to break that mental barrier ~ lightweight jacket sounds like a good idea!

And you will! I truly struggled with plodding for 1minute in W1 having avoided most exercise all my adult life - 30 odd years of drinking, smoking, partying and getting up to all sorts! If I can do it...... 😊

Wow, amazing, well done! πŸ‘πŸŽ‰πŸƒ

So have you gone from 30 to 40 mins in one jump? Just shows how much the hot weather has been having an effect on us all. I'm looking forward to my first cool run (it's now baking again #MissedOpportunity 😳). I'm at 30 mins too as just graduated.

My towels are inbound but not sure I'm brave enough to run around our village with one on my head. Would certainly be the talk of the place! πŸ˜†

I run on the trails near a gypsy camp. They all run with towelled heads and necks, and covered in long pants and tops Sweating the weight off I expect, for their boxing πŸ₯Š

Yey!!! Well done you! What an achievement! πŸ‘πŸ˜ƒπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ…πŸŒŸWhat does the toxic thing mean please?

Flaraflarkin profile image
FlaraflarkinGraduate

Pancakes as far as I know it's your body's chemical reaction to the oxygen trying to reach big leg muscles?? (type thing) As in when your legs kill at the start of the run 😫

Pancakes profile image
PancakesGraduate in reply to Flaraflarkin

Oh ok so where do you get test? I do sumo squats but am not sure if it makes any difference to my running! I’d love to take a toxic test!

Flaraflarkin profile image
FlaraflarkinGraduate

There's no test Pancakes , the number relates to the amount of minutes it (pain) lasts for ~ I think it's usually known as the toxic 10 (as it's generally 10mins on average) - but mine usually lasts longer but was much less yesterday 😊

Ooooo thank you so much!! It’s funny because I was wondering if that happened to other runners too! πŸ˜† I will time it from now on! Did you free run or did you use stepping stones? You are an inspiration πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

Flaraflarkin profile image
FlaraflarkinGraduate

Just ran with my music, and for the first time didn't really have an intended time in mind ~ but as I wasn't struggling as much as usual I believed that I was going to manage to get past the 30minute mark (once I'd got to around 20) and once I'd done that it felt like I'd crossed my psychological barrier and I could just keep going! I hope this means I've cracked that barrier 😊

Massive congratulations Flara!! Fantastic new discovery too! 😍 I bet running in the heavy rain gives a great sense of headspace and freedom. Great photo too! Looking like a very cute happy runner!! ❀️

Oh wow I really did embrace the rain, it was mad I could hardly see where I was going at times! The refreshing rain, stronger legs and increased stamina all coming together at the same time ~ synchronicity 😊
