I've aimed to do 3 30 minute runs a week since I completed C25K in April. I had to have a break for a few weeks recently because of an injury to my hip, so I decided to try cycling for 45 minutes most mornings instead. I've read on this site and elsewhere that doing strengthening exercise such as cycling helps with your running, and guess what - when I started running again a couple of weeks ago, it really was easier! I used to have to stop for a few seconds on some of my runs, but now I'm confident I can do 30 minutes without stopping and I've sometimes dipped below 7 minutes a kilometre (I know that's still slow, but it's progress!). So now I'm cycling on non-running days and feeling good :-)

Well done sigasiga, I have cycled all my life, only recently in April I started C25K and graduated two months later, yes I think cycling does help in running. When I was at primary school, that's like millions of years ago now, I was always the winner in sprint races, that was put down to all the cycling I did all those years ago. Strangely enough, like you I have had slight pains in my hip, it doesn't stop me from cycling or any other exercise but does stop me from running any distance.
