Hi all - I'm more of a lurker so this is my first post, but I couldn't resist letting you know that I completed the programme this morning - at 5.30 to avoid the heat and achieving 4.5km in the 30 mins. As a 63 year old with (controlled) high blood pressure & cholesterol and recently-diagnosed type 2 diabetes, who hadn't run for many years, I knew I had to take some action to get more healthy & fit, and this has been just right for me.
Yes it's been a struggle at times and that is where this forum has been so helpful - anything I was uncertain or worried about (how could I do 20 mins on the trot for w5r3!), I could find the answer or some reassurance here. Over the last 9 or so weeks, I've also lost about a stone (linked with a changed diet to address the above-mentioned diabetes).
Future plans are to consolidate my progress, aiming to achieve 5k within 30 mins, and to try our local park run soon. I'm not thinking about 10k yet- but who knows!
