I've just gone and done it....my first EVER 20 mins.πππππππ
Wonders will never cease!!!!π±π±π±
Funnily enough, I found the first and last 5 mins of the run harder than the middle bit.
Who would've thought that I had it in me????!!! Certainly not I!!!
The gremlins were out in full force this morning......they are pesky little things, I tell you! I almost chickened out.....but I thought of all of you on here cheering and egging me on.......and found the courage to get out there and run.
And boy.....do I feel sweaty and great!!!π
Thank you my C25K family!!!!π

Well done Hotheels so very proud of you πͺππ»ππ» And it is completely normal to find the first and last sections the toughest, at the start you have what we call the toxic 10 ( or maybe 5 in your case) this is when your body is adjusting to running, getting your breathing sorted, finding a rhythm and consistency and at the end, especially at this stage, you are bound to be tired, but you kept going and completed the run, we will soon have you on the podium!
When Laura piped up to say "well done, you've just completed the first 5 mins...you have 15 mins to go...", I wanted to throw something at her!!! It felt hard and definitely longer than 5 mins......lol!!!ππ
But after that, like you say, I found my rhythm and rest of it wasn't too bad. Last 5 mins was tough because, again as you've pointed out, I was feeling tired by then.
But.....I had my C25K warriors whispering in my ear "you can do it!!!" which is the only thing that kept me going.
Podium.......hah!!! We'll see......for now, that I've completed Week 5 is enough. Hopefully I'll be brave enough to tackle Week 6 when the time comes.....π π π
Thank you Berksrover for your constant encouragement!!πͺπͺπͺ
Beware week 6! A lot of people find it strange to go back to more intervals and struggle, but you can and will do it, and take it in your stride as you have everything else.
I often find the beginning of a run is the worst bit. Think thatβs our brain telling us we canβt do it but once you pass that 5 minutes youβre away.
I am to do mine tomorrow morning - today my rest day - am not looking forward to it but I have come this far so will give it my best shot!!! Never run ever before the program so am proud of what I have achieved π
Yay!! Well done Hotheels ππ I found this is where the grit and determination comes in to kick those gremlins ~ you have plenty of that, we all do - it's just about finding it! You're doing fab!! π
Well done Hotheels! Itβs amazing what our bodies are capable of. As many say here: βAllow your mind to trust your body.β This certainly helped me when the nerves kicked in. ππππ»ππ»ππ»ππ½ββοΈππΌββοΈπββοΈππΎββοΈ
Agree......I don't think it's truly dawned on me yet that my running is REAL.....Still feel like a fraud......as I'm simply getting out there.....shuffling along slowly - no speed or technique whatsoever!
But, it's more than I have ever done till date......and that's what I'm focussing on.
And hopefully, once I do more than 20 mins....maybe I'll start believing that perhaps I could be called a "beginner runner" after all!!!
Well done HotheelsπThat sense of achievement is great isnβt it because I think most of us go into that run thinking we canβt do it. Now you know you can so hereβs to week 6 πββοΈπβ
