Running and weightloss

So I’ve just completed week 3... starting to wonder when I’m going to start noticing any changes, I’ve always weighed around 10 stone, after having my 18 month old daughter I dropped to 9, then I’ve gone up to 12 and I find I’m struggling to shed anything! I’m quite a skinny person top end but from playing squash I’ve always had very chunky legs! I’m wondering when I’ll start to see a difference, I’ve pretty much turned full vegetarian whilst dieting and can not seem to loose anything! Any advice?

You’ll start to notice some trimming/firming of your body, perhaps some more muscle definition in your legs.

But each run in C25K is going to burn 200 calories max so it will not contribute much to weight loss.

When you graduate and start running for longer you’ll start to see more weight loss if you continue your calorie controlled diet.

Thank you for the advice, really got my fingers crossed that it’ll work!

You’ll need to diet to lose weight as running c25k won’t burn enough off.

You’ll see the weight start coming off if you can keep a good pace and get that heart rate up. I burn around 450 calories on a 5k run, then your body continues to burn calories at a higher than baseline level for an hour or so after. It’s not just about less calories in your diet.

Don’t worry too much Greyspark. I found the same and decided my one venture onto the scales in years was not going to be repeated. I didn’t want to distract from enjoying the running and all of the benefits. I decided the fat would surrender eventually and I’d think more about that after.

I definitely toned up quite a bit during the programme and now I’m doing my consolidation runs, I do think the weight loss is starting to happen! The fat is turning into fuel..finally! 😂 I’m not weighing, but I do have a dress size goal. I’m trying to do this without too much pressure, so I can enjoy getting there a bit more.

Hope it all comes together for you! ❤️

Maybe take some measurements now and compare in a few weeks/months. You will start to notice changes in your shape as you become more toned. Since I started the programme a year ago my jeans are two sizes smaller, although I weigh about the same I think 😊

Im no expert so this might be a myth but they say if you don’t eat enough cals and protein etc that your body holds onto its fat reserves. I’m doing slimming world and have lost 1 stone 6 lbs before I started running (after having my second child and being the heaviest I’ve ever been). I love the plan too so I’m confident I’ll reach my goal (1-1.5 stone more). I hope that helps! X

You’ll lose weight if you keep on running, and doing other exercise, walking more etc whilst eating and drinking healthily. Nothing surprising 💪😃👍

Hi, I’m starting W5 tomorrow (but in real time it’s week 8 as I’ve repeated some) and I’ve been eating low carb - no bread, pasta, rice etc. I’ve lost 12 lbs in that time and feel far leaner and lighter. Low carb is not for everyone but I’ve had great results so am sticking with it until I reach my goal (another 12 lbs). I haven’t had any issues with energy levels etc and my mood has improved so much (I suffer from mild depression). X

I started losing serious weight after graduating. I stuck to 3 runs a week after finishing and lost lots so hopefully the same will happen for you x
