I’m about to do Wk 4 run 3 today. I’ve been reading on here but this is the first time I’ve posted anything.
I’ve found the jump to week 4 hard, but doable (just!). Initially I made a playlist to listen to, but as the runs get longer I’m wondering if listening to a podcast might be better for distracting myself.
What do other people like to listen to when they’re running?

Welcome to the forum and well done on your progress.
If I listen to anything when running, which is rare, then it is just my music collection on shuffle..........classical choral to rock, world music to reggae.
Many find podcasts more engaging and provide a good distraction from thinking about time or the physicality of running.
From my own perspective I tend for the most part to listen to audio books with Amazon's Audible app. If I read you right, you want something in your ears that will distract you from the task of running rather than pumping you up. I'm pretty much the same.
I find listening to an audio book the right level of entertainment and it helps to separate the mental faculties from the physical act of running. The other advantage is that with someone only talking in your ear, it is much easier to discern ambient traffic noise.
The C25K app works in harmony to pause the audio stream while the necessary voice prompts are played and then then book returns once more.
Might be a limitation of the particular podcast player you are using. Some players have a setting that allows other apps to pause for interruptions. Certainly Audible works the way I want it to.
I really love listening to either a collection of my favourite songs, or more usually a podcast called NADDPOD - there's 100 episodes so I'm trying to get through them lol. I find podcasts make the time go faster because a song is usually about 3 minutes, so you can sort of work out how far into the run you are when you listen to music as opposed to a podcast which can be off-putting.
Tried a podcast today and think I prefer music. I think that as each song is roughly 3 minutes, I can just think to myself, just get to the end of this song lol!
I've been thinking about audiobooks when I get to the longer runs (I'm also planning W4R3 today!). If I listen to one while I'm out walking it means I want to walk a bit further to hear the next section of the story, and I hope it will give me that distraction I need - I worry that on the longer runs my brain will throw in the towel before my body does if I'm thinking about the tiredness. But my app doesn't pause my music, just makes it a bit quieter. So I'm sticking with music for the next couple of weeks at least.
Yes I found the app didn’t pause the podcast either, so it was a bit annoying and I switched back to music. Good luck with W4R3, I’m not long back from it and found it easier than W4R1, looking forward to W5 now 👍
Random playlists on Spotify throw up some gems, the odd podcast for longer runs. Usually though il go with 90s dance/trance or rap music from a similar period.
Dance/trance if I want to run faster.
Ultimate happy running song....Mr Blue Sky by E.L.O 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻 do we have a chef's kiss emoji? This song needs one!
I suggest you listen to whatever you want. Mix it up if you want. Podcast one day. Rock music the next. Classical, grime... classical grime? Some research suggests the "right" bpm encourages people to run at the appropriate pace. Others like spoken word to distract them. Horses for courses I guess.
Classical grime! Now that sounds interesting 😂Yes I will just play around and find what suits best. I guess it’ll probably change according to my mood and fitness.
I listen to anything that isn’t too slow, and play Zombies run which you can try later on if you don’t mind being a bit spooked at times, but it’s not the best idea while completing c25k because slow and steady is the way to complete the programme while you build strength in your legs and stamina to run for longer
