W8R2 - tough!

just about finished today and felt shattered at the end - couldn't quite understand why I found it so tough but en looked at map my run and found out that I was going a whole 20 seconds faster per km than I did on Monday, so maybe that explains it. I'm still slow - at this pace, I should come in just over 4km at the end of 30 minutes next week - but I wasn't consciously trying to go faster and didn't realise that I was, so I'm taking this as progress! One thing - after the last two runs, I've had a slightly stiff knee... It's not painful when I'm running but I'm 'aware' of it afterwards. Is this something which can happen on the longer runs? I suppose the body needs to get used to it. I'm hyper-vigilant with this leg as about 12 years ago I broke it in four places.

Well done I am on week 8. I had to repeat run 1 as think I started too fast and it was hot too so stopped after about 18 mins. Went out again last night and covered 3km in 28 mins. Still not great distance but at the moment I am just pleased can run non stop. Just look how far we have come! My leg and knee ache the next day but once get moving they are not too bad. You know your body, just don't push it if it hurts and take an extra rest day.

You're so right - it's important not to get hung up on the distance speed. A few weeks ago I really didn't care how fast (or rather slowly) I was going and now I'm getting a bit caught up in the need to go faster and need to stop this! Well done for your achievements - it doesn't seem that long ago that five minutes seemed all that was humanly possible!!
