OK fellow couches. i graduated and feel i have achieved, still hoping to enjoy running so i am persevering.... the title is couch to 5k, but it deals in time (30mins) not distance.
Do i run 5k and try to get the time to 30mins or run 30mins each time trying to extend the distance?

Either or neither. That’s the beauty, you can do what takes your fancy. Probably worth consolidating for a few weeks at 30 mins though before you plan your next move 👍
If I run for the next 50 years I will never get to 5k in 30 mins. It just isn't going to happen! My aim is to run 3 times a week and to get to 5k in what ever time it takes. I am getting faster, slowly!! 🐌🐌🐌🐌
Ang33333 is right, many of us will never run 5k in 30 minutes. But who cares? We are out there running and enjoying ourselves, and our health is tons better than it would otherwise be. Enjoy what you can do.
Just run..lots of consolidation and plenty of 30 minutes... also different routes and shorter ones too. Let it evolve and then maybe move on to another level..check out the linked post
The advice of running in different locations is a good one. All my training at home is in my village in the south downs, so all hills, maybe a nice flat route will appeal! I travel a fair amount but the locations are not so desirable so a treadmill in a gym is normally the result! I won't get hung up about the wibbly wobbly timey wimey thing, I'll just run. thanks for the random play list people have sent me on spotify, this is always a nice surprise when running!
Consolidate for a few weeks at least. 30 min runs then 5k runs in whatever time. Build your leg strength and mileage. Do the C25k+ podcasts - change it up. Then decide where you want to take your running.
Don’t aim for 5k in 30 minutes. That’s just going to hurt!!!
Aim to run just a little further each time until you reach 5k.
Or just keep running for 30 minutes.
It’s the amount of time you’re exercising that’s important to us C25K folk.
Well that’s how I justify coming 173rd out of 198 at the park run last Saturday. I was exercising for a whole 38.08 minutes. The poor souls up front were only exercising for 16 minutes!!!! 😂😜😂
