Apologies for ruining your breakfast with close-ups of bits of my anatomy. Exhibit A - mild jogger’s nipple and the counter-measures I’ve deployed today.

Earlyish run. 4k only today, which almost felt like cheating compared to the last two which were 5ks.

Absolutely throwing it down and much, much cooler. Still ran in my summer-weight gear and I was freezing cold by the time I got home. But boy it was nice not sweating my butt off out there.

Speed slower (presumably because of the rain) by about 30 seconds over last time. Pavements slippy and wheelie bin slalom a go-go.

Took Sirens Hill to “Get it on (bang a gong)”, today’s run fuelled by Spotify’s personalised Daily Mix 1. The playlists it creates for you based on music you listen to is one of Spotify’s best features.

Back feeling mighty calm, despite roadside showers by various HGVs. A warm shower at home put that right.

Another 5k coming up on Sunday and then I’m off out on Sunday evening for a work-related “summer supper”, my first proper night out in about 6 months.

Whatever run you have next, enjoy it x

Where are the tassels Jay? I’m with Ripcurlrana71 on rain! What is this mythical substance you talk about? You’ll be tell us it falls from the sky next!!! Pah!

Check weather app everyday and humidity is always 80%+!! Slowly withering away....😢 I...need....rain... 🌧

I was soaked. And not with sweat. And it was amazing!

Just logged in while eating my overnight oats - your nipple is almost the same colour as my strawberries! I, too, am so jealous that you have rain - my local park is covered in brown grass at the moment and is desperate for a soaking.

Enjoy your night out on Sunday.☺

A mild case of joggers nipple or a ‘ mild jogger’s’ nipple - you seem pretty extreme these days with your bring it on attitude to distance.

Who knew such plasters existed - agree they could be a bit fancier.

Enjoy your night out - best leave the plasters at home - I doubt your work colleagues will be so empathetic 😳

I intend to keep my shirt on! I’m using Lanacane under regular clothes and it’s got no worse.

Rain? Crikey, none here! My yellow Lab is camouflaged in the grass currently!

Your run sounded fabulous - I haven’t tri e street running yet, but I bet it’s full of surprises! 😀

Jay66UK profile image
Jay66UKGraduate in reply to cheekychipmunks

It’s going to be hot and dry again by the weekend.

Street running is interesting. Dropped kerbs test your ankles and knees; wheelie bins give you swerve practice; puddles are great fun 🙄

Hi Jay, don't mind the photo, nice that you have had some rain, where I am in Central Scotland it has not rained now for over three weeks, so we now officially are in a drought situation, however, with all the snow and rain we did have from November to the end of April there are no water restrictions whatsoever where I live, the only thing is that I have not needed to cut my grass lawn now for over three weeks, I usually have to do that every 12 days or so, the grass is looking a bit parched so no cutting needed. I regret doing that unofficial 10K I told you about on Wednesday as my right buttock has been a bit sore since Wednesday evening, silly me, I can still do other exercises like yoga and planks but I will have to put on hold my running attempt of completing a full 5K, good luck to you regarding that nipple

Jay66UK profile image
Jay66UKGraduate in reply to AlMorr

Thanks - I hope your buttock recovers and your grass gets some rain soon.

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate in reply to Jay66UK

I have taken a few Ibuprofen coated tablets, this morning not nearly as sore but for safety reasons, I'll just go for a walk, not a run.

It's Nipple-Gate! 🕺

Glad you found something to treat current nip injury and prevent future carnage in the chest region. 👍 Great run, super jelly of your cooler weather. ☀️⛈🌦🌩☀️

Have a superb night out on Sunday. Sounds long overdue x

Oh I loved the rain! Was a nice change, though I can't say I was cold it was still hot out there!!!☔🌞

Jay66UK profile image
Jay66UKGraduate in reply to Teddly22

So refreshing. I think by the time the third HGV drenched me my body gave up any heat it had left.

I wasn’t shivering but the cool down was a cold down!

Teddly22 profile image
Teddly22Graduate in reply to Jay66UK

Oh I haven't done any road runs as I like to cheat and run on the flat😉! Was very quiet in the park though and that was also a nice change!!!

Jay66UK profile image
Jay66UKGraduate in reply to Teddly22

I don’t like getting my nice running shoes mucky by running in parks!

How did the shields do? They stay in place ok? What a shame Jay, nothing worse than pain when you're trying to train. It'll be just as bad as running with a blister! Ouchy.

Jay66UK profile image
Jay66UKGraduate in reply to

They worked brilliantly.

They were fiddly to fit first time, mainly due to my hairiness - I had to work backwards in a mirror as I couldn’t focus right up close. Once on, they stayed in place and I couldn’t tell they were there.

Stayed in place despite rain. I didn’t sweat today which I guess could effect them but they stick well. Came off painlessly as well, despite hair getting stuck underneath.

With them on, no discomfort at all. And Lanacane is stopping work/ordinary clothes rubbing it so I’m good.

in reply to Jay66UK

Job done! Bet loads of people get bothered by this and don't think to ask for advice.

P.S. I advised shaving, so you've no-one to blame re the hair-pulling!!! 😆😆

Jay66UK profile image
Jay66UKGraduate in reply to

I think the chicken skin post-shaving could hurt more!

50% of men are hairy. 50/50 women love it/hate it. As if it isn’t all hard enough!

Ooh to have a run in summer rain 🌧🏃‍♀️💦☔️

I won’t be saying that in autumn and winter though

Jay66UK profile image
Jay66UKGraduate in reply to Dexy5

Didn’t enjoy the bad weather we had in April. Avoided it like the plague.

Dexy5 profile image
Dexy5Graduate in reply to Jay66UK

No I was driven into the dreadmill at the gym . I suspect that will happen again if I can’t get runs in outside.

Jay66UK profile image
Jay66UKGraduate in reply to Dexy5

Might buy one rather than go to a gym. Anything but a gym!!

No rain in West Kent! I wish. I think they may have forecast thunderstorms for later though. Well done on the run. Hope you have a lovely time on your eve out - any potential ladies going? 😉

Jay66UK profile image
Jay66UKGraduate in reply to

I think the average age will be very much older than me. But I’m rubbish at going out on my own and I know some of the people going so it’s a safe toe-dip practice. Such a wuss!

in reply to Jay66UK

Oh no - I’m the same - I hate it especially if I have to walk into a pub on my own - I always try to meet someone beforehand so we can go in together!

Jay66UK profile image
Jay66UKGraduate in reply to

An older couple going (mid 70s) have said they will “save me a seat” which is kind.

They also previously offered to come out on a joint date if I needed support taking someone out. Which is lovely but 😳

in reply to Jay66UK

😂😂 bless - that’s so sweet.

Well done for going running in the rain. It’s not something I would do if possible but after all the heat we’ve been having I’m game fir running in the rain but none here yet! Nips look sore and I hope they recover speedily. Have fun on your night out. 😊

Jay66UK profile image
Jay66UKGraduate in reply to Jelon

Ta. I avoided rain as much as I could in the spring but this was just lovely compared to the heat. Short shorts and a vest and it was mainly my skin getting wet. Refreshing compared to the humid fug I’ve been running in lately.

Dexy5 profile image
Dexy5Graduate in reply to Jay66UK

Remember skin is waterproof, it’s the clothes that aren’t . Maybe we’d be better off running in the buff.

They look very soothing Jay. Isn’t that amazing you said 4k only today, how good is that? Enjoy the rain, before it turns to winter rain. Hope it cools down a bit though for everyone. Over here, me’s sitting glowing with the woodburner (or is that the vodka and tonic in hand) and its raining heavily again, but alls well squeezed in a run today. Enjoy Sunday 5k and supper. Aah bless the older couple saving you a seat. Sneak in 🤫
