Graduated last week but dead after 3k!!

Anyone else had this? Was feeling pretty tired before I started but I usually power through! But today I was absolutely dead after 3k. Feeling a bit disappointed!! I was quicker than my previous laps (1k) so wonder whether I went too quick and that’s why I got so tired so quickly?

I actually had exactly the same thing a couple of weeks after I graduated. I made it 2.5k and had to stop. First time I’ve ever been unable to complete what I set out to.

Could be speed, could be the weather or you could have been a bit dehydrated, maybe not a great nights sleep the night before? I think it’s just One Of Those Runs. Shrug it off and move on. It’s wasn’t what you wanted to achieve, but it was still a run. It’s like money in the bank.

Thank you! That’s made me feel much better 🙂 you’re right, and it’s much better than not running at all hey 😉

You are still a very, very new runner and suddenly increasing your pace is likely to push you beyond your capabilities, which explains why you were exhausted.

Have you read the guide to post C25K running healthunlocked.com/couchto5... which outlines various routes forward, but all involve lots of slow paced runs, to build stamina and strength.

That makes a lot of sense! Yes I’ve had a quick look but I’ll re-read. Thanks 🙂

Suspect the dreadful heat does not help! 😎

No it doesn’t! Was cloudy this morning so I thought it’d be ok. Got back from work and it was oppressively humid again! Agh!
