There are no failures, just opportunities to learn. If you fail to meet target, work out what it was that prevented you from doing so and eliminate that next time.

Not sure what you are asking but I recommend reading the guide to the programme, downloading the app and follow the programme. Keep coming here and people will keep you straight!

The great thing about C25K is that it builds success on success, and there is little more motivating than that :)

Good luck :)

Every time you get out there for a scheduled run, that's the most important target achieved. The rest follows.

Actually, I reckon you are already thinking along the right lines - the target is to learn how to run for 30 minutes continuously on a regular basis. Not distance (you get disabused of that little glitch in the title early on in the audiocoaching), not pace. Your entire focus should be on maintaining a running motion in the run sections (however slowly) and a walking motion (however slowly) in the walk sections.

Some of us don't manage to sustain a running motion in a run section the first time out. This is where the division into 8 comes in so handy. If you do find yourself unable to continue with the running motion (despite taking smaller steps and just about running on the spot), you can walk the rest, it all contributes to fitness and you have a clear marker to reach and exceed next time out. So I did 4, 4 again the next time... and then worked my way up. There were some good reasons why it was unusually challenging in my case but I never felt disheartened and always felt secure that I was consolidating and progressing.

I’m guessing you mean “what do I do if I can’t complete all the running bits of a run”.

There is only one answer. Give yourself a clear rest day then try again.

In the heat we have right now, forget running during the day. You need to be out at the crack of dawn or at last light. You need to be drinking loads of water during the day before (and during the day of a run if running in the evening).

And you mainly need to be running more slowly. That might mean surprisingly (“I can walk faster than this”) slowly at times.

Motivation won’t get you through this unless it comes from within you - why have you started? - and if mixed with a huge quantity of determination.

You will need to force yourself to go out and run at times. You will need to force yourself to keep going for the rest of some running parts.

It won’t be easy. It will be rewarding and it will become enjoyable if you let it.

I teach a class of 7 year olds and today one of them said that they had heard on the radio that there are no losers only learners! Fabulous advice for this programme! It's all about learning and it doesn't matter how long that takes! Set the days that you are going to run and get out there and learn!!!
