Very slow today and mentally, everything took over. Brain told legs to stop, chest that it was hurting badly and combined to a stop/start run, although I did complete the 5k and in 26:23 today.
From the high to the low: Very slow today and... - Couch to 5K
From the high to the low
Some days are rubbish running days for no reason and other days are cracking! That said you have done 5k in a fantastic time so be pleased with your efforts as you didn't give up and kept going.
Tell Brian to sling his hook!
Ah chin up Mark, some times we have runs like that, its all part and parcel of it I think.
Saying that , you should be very very chuffed with yourself that you didn't give up and kept going .
Well done ! xxx
I seriously considered stopping altogether last night, that wouldn't do me any good though.
Doesn't sound slow to me! Hopefully that means you're due a good one next time out.
Don't worry Mark, I think most of us have what we feel are " bad runs ", but when you think about it really there no " bad runs " just " practice runs " ( to quote the very wise and wonderful Irish-John )
You have come so far , you should be very proud of yourself ! xxx
Coming back to give you a more fuller reply.
Brian - as I've named your brain - is a voice that gives you the negative self-talk. He's wrong! He's always wrong, as the facts of running 5k in 26:23 shows.
So learn to challenge him, give him a name & tell him to "sling his hook." 😉
Slipped back again today,to 29:02. Going to take a temporary break and think about whether running is right for me or not.
Ah youre incredibly hard on yourself Mark, cut yourself a bit of slack here ....
Have a break and see how you feel, hope things feel better for you soon
Take care xxx
Are you sure you're not coming down with a bug? A deterioration in my running is usually the first sign for me. PPs right don't be so hard on yourself, if you're sure your health isn't the cause, do some nice little scenic runs if you have somewhere nice to run, and don'y look at your times...
