First outdoor run done!

Hi all, I've been doing couch to 5k since start of April, and with life, work, holidays etc getting in the way I am now up to week 9. I'm proper chuffed as I broke my ankle 11 years ago and have limited dorsiflexion in it as a result of scar tissue, so never thought I would be able to run. It took me 30 mins of walking on the treadmill to work up the courage to go faster to make myself try and run.. Since then I've been amazed by my progress.. I've never been a fit person, but with 40 becoming a reality next year I've decided I need to get in shape and this seemed like a great way to do it. I finally decided to try and run outside the other day, and it took me 20 mins of walking before I felt brave enough to run! But I did it! I've realised it's more difficult to drink while outside, so am waiting for one of those bum bags with bottles built in to arrive, but wondered if anyone has any tips for me as I go from treadmill to park. I don't feel like I run particularly fast (about 8 mins per km) but I've realised the only race in running is with myself anyway so it doesn't matter! Getting to the end is my priority rather than breaking any speed records! Thanks in advance :)

Hi just wanted to say well done for making the transition to outside. I did all my runs outside with my hubby and he has been a great support as I too was not confident as I fell while walking 4 years ago and broke my shoulder in 2 places. Took lots of time and a further op to finally be pain free, but left me fearful of falling. I would just say I always keep my eyes pealed for possible hazards, twigs and the like, and go steady as you build up your confidence. Take care and enjoy x
