Fit bit or what bit

Can anyone advise on what fitness watch to get? There are so many out there and it all seems rather confusing. At the moment I am looking at the Fitbit and Apple Watch but I don't want to pay a load of money for gadgetry I won't use.

All depends what you want.

I know the Apple Watch best. It works well as a fitness watch and integrates with the iPhone. The newer (dearer) models have built in GPS and can store music so you don’t need to run with your phone. If you are on EE they do one that can make and receive calls as well without the phone being nearby. You can use the built in Activity app or things like Strava.

Lots of people on here use the Garmin Forerunner range - 35 is the cheaper one, 235 dearer. I don’t know much about them but people who use them love them. They link to Strava.

My only knowledge of the Fitbit is the very cheap one that just has lights that fill as you walk through the day. I know they do full blown running watches too but know nothing about them.

In the end it’s finding what you like in your budget. Enjoy shopping and share what you plump for.

Let us know how you get on with it when you’ve had a few runs. What works well, what’s easy/confusing etc. We can all benefit from your experience then.

You nailed it there - gadgetry that you won’t use. When it downed on me earlier on in my stellar running career that the Olympic doors were firmly shut and that all l could do was run for joy l figured l only wanted to know “how fast/slow and how far”, the info provided by a free app on my phone.

Of course, if stats are your thing then Google is your friend, you will find all that you need. Aalternatively, the usual top advise from this forum.

The Fitbit charge 2 is a lot cheaper than the Apple Watch . Although it’s got all the right features and is easy to use, the watch face scratches very easily and is difficult to see under moderately bright light.

I have the Garmin ( sallenson 😉) Forerunner 35 and does all the basic essentials. Also uploads runs auto to Strava. Very happy with it.
