What's going on??!!! W6r1

So I completed w5r3 and was totally ecstatic, absolute rocky moment as it finished so stupidly thought w6r1 would be easy. How wrong was I?? Ran at 5.30 this morning and I really struggled. Could this be more because I know I have walks breaking up the runs? Don't know if I should repeat the run even thou I completed it? I can't be the only one that got caught out on this run?!

There are loads of posts about how tough this one is. It's a longer workout so it is harder.

You completed it so no need to repeat!

W6 is tricky. The problem is everyone is in such a high having done W5R3 that it’s hard to gently say “be careful” without seeming like a spoilsport.

Just continue to the next run. I’d still be on the very first run if I only moved on when it was easy.

Take it slow. Look forward to run 3 as you then have no more walking bits. That’s when I started to enjoy it.

Think once all the walks are out the way I will enjoy it too. I'm thinking subconsciously I knew there were walks coming up so was counting in my head to when they were 🙈 hopefully run 3 will be euphoric like week 5!

I hope so too. I found the bigger it was in my mind the bigger the rush once it was achieved. Enjoy!

Just read it now and we sound exactly the same 😂 really enjoyed w5r3 and thought this one would be a walk in the park.... How wrong was I!

I felt so deflated after it. I didn’t repeat it as like you I managed to complete it albeit at a snails pace and I moved on. Subsequent runs have all been much better so put it behind you and keep moving forwards!

I know that feeling. I was absolutely crushed this morning! Saturday morning will be a different story for run 2 thou! I just couldn't get out of my head this morning and that obviously didn't help.

I should be starting week 8 today but after an epic fall off my horse walking is even a challenge 😓

Doesn't help the ground is so hard at the moment too. Rest up and use lots of ice and hopefully you'll be back running in no time

You’re definitely not the only one. I really struggled on week 6 (posted about it) but found week 7 much better (posted about that too!). No need to repeat as you finished it. Just keep going one step at a time & be encouraged by all the wonderful support from everyone on this forum. They’ve helped me massively!! You’ve got this!

Thanks. No way am I stopping. I've entered into the London landmarks half marathon next year so no time to stop! I'm actually really looking forward to week 7 to get rid of the walks

Week 6 1 and 2 are tricky for everyone. Don't panic. Go slow. Lovely long runs to come with no walking!
