Getting going is the problem...

Completed run 1 of week 1 today after my friend inspired me with her success so far on a skype call. Always struggle between wanting to do it, being embarrassed to be out running so overweight and unfit, and so stuck in the 'ashamed mode' of who I used to and could of still been. Found the last 2 run sections hard but feeling positive and ready for Wednesday for run 2. :)

Congratulations on getting started!

I can pretty much guarantee you that most people that see you will either not even think twice about you and your weight, or they will be thinking positive thoughts like “wow, that’s awesome she’s working on it” or even “wow, she’s overweight and she’s out there running...if she can do it why am I sitting on the couch watching TV?”

Seriously it’s funny how we worry what people think about us when in reality they aren’t thinking about us at all!

Running is a mental as well as physical discipline. Try and banish the negative thoughts that stop you from being the person you want to be. No point dwelling on the past, it's a pointless but painful business and shame is a destructive emotion.

To be a bit cliched- serenely accept the things you cannot change and bravely change the things you can :)

Put the runs in the diary and then go out and do them without prevarication and feel proud!

Well done getting out there! It gets easier to go the more you do it.

I used to take about an hour to get ready (not kidding) but it was really just me procrastinating.

I’m on week 6 now and get ready in 10 mins max!

Yay you! I always find the end parts of the run hard (but then I'm still a newbie).

Congrats!
