I was really nervous about this run, as so many people are, but physically it really wasn't hard! I think lack of confidence and disbelief in one's ability to make the leap to 20 minutes non-stop running is the killer so hearing about other people's experiences is a real help. Thanks to all of you for the encouragement.
Having said all that I appreciate that some people don't manage it first time for all sorts of reasons. My advice would be to see the first attempt as further training, and keep going until you do it.
You get such a buzz out of this run! And now that I've conquered this bete noir of C25k I feel confident that I can complete the programme.
I did my w5r3 earlier this morning, like you I was very apprehensive. I altered my route slightly to take my mind off the time and I think that helped. Kept the pace slow and steady, the second 10 minutes were more auto pilot than anything - pick 'em up and put 'em down. At the end I was sweating more than I've ever done so far but it felt good. Once I got home and did a few stretches, fed the dogs, prepared my breakfast, I was feeling wired lol.
The rewards definitely outweigh the struggle. For anyone who has the fear of this run I'd say trust the plan, it works.
Ooh I have this run tomorrow and I'm really nervous for it. It seems like such a big step up from 8 mins on Tuesday. I'm sure Laura will get me through but this feels like 'proper' running!
I was so nervous I actually dreamt about it! But when it came to actually doing it I found I was good and ready. Make sure you're properly hydrated (especially in this weather), start slow and just go for it would be my advice. Good luck and let us know how it goes.
