I’m on week 2 of the couch to 5k. I’d love to complete the 9 weeks. Has anyone lost weight with this programme? I’d like to think I will

Just a couple of pounds, BUT I was not trying. Lots of extra eating. My shape has changed, I'm leaner, clothes fit better, I'm less stressed and I smile a lot more.

Good luck, others have lost weight though. They probably have more self discipline than me ! 😀🍰🍾.

Hey. Good luck with the running.

This will certainly help with weightloss longer term but not in the initial weeks. I had 30kg to lose and lost about 2 or 3kg over the whole programme.

But after graduating and doing longer runs, along with calorie counting, the weight is coming off nicely - about 1.5kg a week at the moment, so over 3 pounds a week. I was up near 16st and I am now just below 15.

Wowzers well done Sir. I jput on 6lb doing the programme and maintained during pg runs. Hate blaming thyroid all the time but I exercise more than and eat healthier than the husband yet he has lost a stone with just two 45 min runs a week for a couple of months and vaguely cutting down. Makes you sick!

You should be very proud tho !

Thanks. I know people with thyroid problems and can sympathise. And , like our running, our metabolisms are all different.

Yeah but *stamps foot* I want one that works. If I’ve worked and I flipping well have, then I want my metabolism to work as hard and drop 2 stone nicely!! (And maybe I need to “reward myself” less after each run ......😂😂)

That was a feature of my early runs too 😳

Are there meds you can take to help? (“Mind your own business” is a perfectly acceptable response.)

I take meds but they don’t help. I confound dieticians nutritionists blah blah. I really honestly do eat very well and being gluten free I don’t do processed foods so I know what I’m having. I hate (with a passion) chocolate and don’t drink much alcohol. There’s nothing else we can do with diet cos everything in moderation and balance and a treat of cake is fine occasionally So I thought -there’s nothing else I can do I am going to HAVE to have a go at this running lark. I do pilates twice a week and walk the dogs 5days a week usually. Or did till last weekend! And will do again! I walk in the Lake District once a month and swim when I’m there too. So not a couch resident. My job is physical too. Running was going to be the missing link!!! (But it wasn’t and yet I’m hooked. Cos of the fun shopping opportunities!😂😂)

Yes slowly but surely.

Last year I was up to 16st 11lb and managed to drop down to 16st with diet alone, but there the weight stuck for many months regardless of what I ate.

I then got off my backside and started the C25k in April and combined with the same sensible diet I have not only noticed a positive change in body shape and muscle toning, but have also dropped down to 14st 6 within 3 months.

Still a little further to go, but its all going in the right direction and as Gorforitmama has already said, the clothes fit better, there's less stress and more happiness and smiles in my life.

Keep up the good work, I'm sure you'll do great and good luck with the weight loss.

Well done!

Thanks Jay, sure you'd agree it's been a fantastic positive life changer all round. My whole attitude towards food and drink has subconsciously improved since I started running, which has been a great help. My reward for graduating was going to be a nice cold beer that I put in the fridge..........it's still there weeks later!

Yep. Completely different mindset. I see food much more as fuel and my drinking/snacking has pretty much dried up apart from the odd (small) beer.

Tonight I’ve just sat and ate for my tea half a pack of mixed lettuce leaves, a quarter of a cucumber sliced, a handful of baby plum tomatoes, two boiled eggs, a roasted sweet potato and a (weighed) amount of mayo to give it some flavour.

I’m told they do a melon bag now as well. And I love melon.

I am craving a gourmet burger...not eaten a burger at McDs all year.

(Full disclosure: I have had a couple of bacon baps with brown sauce though. Not since Running started.)

Ooh yeah they do my son had the melon bag last week with his happy meal instead of the fries it was lovely 😊 obviously I had to steal one chunk 😊😉

I started to buy the 5% fat burgers, and I used the George Foreman to cook tea yesterday with plenty of salad and a wholemeal bun beautiful 🍔

I have and my shape has changed a lot, but this is with a lifestyle change also. Only a few kilo lost since started the c25k but it's slowed down as I've lost almost 5 stone so only to be expected 😉😊🏃‍♀️🏃
