Tried to do my last run of this amazing challenge but didnβt e en get 5 minutes in before stopping π¬ tried to continue but stopped again a few minutes later and gave up !! Legs were a dead weight from the start , never had this on any of my runs ... anyone else have this ?? Going to try again tomorrow.. hoping itβs just my body adjusting to coming off 4 nights with little sleep π€π»
W9R3.. epic fail π©: Tried to do my last run of... - Couch to 5K
W9R3.. epic fail π©
Aww Rachel, W9R2 got me. Legs just didn't want to play the game. I gave 3 days before trying again. I think the extra rest day was worth it. Re-done the run and went on to graduate a couple of days later with no problems.
Don't underestimate the effect of the temperature on your runs/stamina. The heat is incredibly draining.
Last thing, as people said to me, this is NOT an epic fail, but gaining experience.
Thanks Julian ... the heat is definitely having an effect , despite me trying to find as many shaded areas as possible!! I work 12 hour days / nights and struggle with nights which hasnβt helped this last week π΄ going to try today I think as I feel more rested ... this forum is so good for lifting spirits π
Little sleep, poor hydration and heat are killers Rachel. This has happened to me, so many times! Not a fail, valuable experience as Julian said
Not to worry, hon. It's rubbish weather for it. Take a couple of days rest, drink loads. You've totally got this. We're all behind you!! Pushing if required
No f words... you went out. You were tired and the heat is making it so, so hard for folk!
Just hydrate well, rest up... every single day ... and then, choose your route and your time and relax into the run.
You will do this..steady and slow..you will get to that podium
I fought with my demons , rested last night and did my run today ππ»π it was tough and I had to stop once but Iβve graduated ππ so chuffed with myself π Iβm a bit off 3 miles but I know that will come .. thanks for your reply , this forum is so good for helping people stay on track !
Congrats! Take it easy in the heat and enjoy running as a graduate when it's cooler
Very, very well done you...let distance an tome evolve... you have done really well.

Try and drink as much as possible a day before the run, 3-4 litres, more if possible. What you describe is often linked with dehydration. Drinking lots before the run will make you feel even worse and the water will simply slosh in your stomach. Come on, youβve come this far, youβve done the first two runs, youβre winning this!
It's mid twenties at 9pm! It's so hot. I would not have graduated running in the evenings if it had been this hot a few weeks ago. I would probably have given up! So well done you for getting out!! I'm now a reluctant morning runner!
