Epic Fail

Did my first 25 mins Saturday and felt amazing. Just tried again and had an epic fail! Getting a lot of pain in tendons and lower calfs. Using treadmill as too embarrassed to go outside. Have lot of weight to lose. Want to run 5k around Central Park in October but feel totally dejected now. Usually do it first thing in morning. Just felt heavy and laboured at this time of day. Can time of day make a difference?

Thank you. I think I'm going to try again tomorrow and put it down to a blip!

If you've already run today then tomorrow is s rest day, even if it wasn't a great run today.

You said you're getting pain so best to rest up than risking injury

I had exactly the same feeling the next run after the first 25 mins. Infact the next 3 runs were not great.

But the rest have been great so don't give you you will get there, just trust in the program it really works

Firstly you are doing amazing. I had calf pain for a few weeks not to bad just a niggle. I think it is because I was creating muscles!

I don't seem to have mastered stretching and warming up very well!

Pre run stretching should be dynamic, such as lunges, rather than the static stretches that you should do after your run, while muscles are still warm and supple.

Cooling down walk and stretches are crucial.

I've felt exactly the same. Keep reading that it is all downhill after week 6 but I have found week 7 tough going.
