Good evening runners!

I can't believe its been two whole months since my last post, the day that I graduated. Things have conspired against me boring you with my exploits since then - Americans, illness, people who I would refer to with impolite words if I wasn't talking to such pleasant people as yourselves, but I AM still running. I missed a couple of runs due to the aforementioned ill health, but other than that, I'm still out 3 times a week. I'm back listening to W3 with Sarah - I tried timing myself and running with the zombies, but as it's so bloody hot here (yes, I know you're having a heatwave too, but it's relentless here - I'm going to have to start running around 4am if it carries on) my runs aren't getting any easier. I'm not getting any faster, or managing to go any further, unless I'm in a really bad mood - I did a 10pm run in the middle of a thunderstorm t'other week, and ran for a solid 45 minutes because I was FUMING, but that's the exception rather than the rule.

So........ Any advice? Is it okay to just keep plodding on, til I manage to free myself from this Spanish exile with it's heat, hills and mountains and return to the green, green grass of home? I'm not giving up, no way José, but I'm feeling a bit pants at my lack of progress.

Heigh ho, ho hum.

Before I go, welcome to all the newbies - you can do this, stick with us, and we'll help all we can, and a huge congratulations to all the graduates that I've missed graduating - told you you could do it!

x

Take what you can..... enjoy the runs for what they are... try to relax and leave the yukkiness behind you as you run...anger is great...but,,, letting go is better :)

You are doing fine... just let it pass... and know when you get back home... your happy runs will be here.... waiting :)

Don’t think too much about it, it’ll come? It’s all about enjoying yourself 🤗

Sorry to hear that life has been dealing you a bad hand recently. I hope that running gives you a 30 minute reprieve every couple of days.

Try to leave the negative stuff behind when you go out, enjoy your 30 - 45 minutes of run time. It's 'your' time.

Is there a training plan to build up speed after graduation? I can’t imagine running without Laura. Hmm. Can you test yourself by running the same route a few times and competing against yourself ie your previous times? Or maybe use week 1 but vary pace instead of walking?

I pretty much always run the same route, its the least mountainous one that I've found! Unless I drive to the nearest town and run along the seafront, but I get bored running in a straight line....

I think I just need to focus on coming home and running in fields and under trees and not stepping in goat pooh.......

I don’t think I would call running 3 times a week “lack of progress”. 😀

A while ago you weren’t running at all! - and running in the heat?? 😳 - so difficult, I’m impressed.

Maybe simply remember to celebrate that you CAN run! 😃
