It’s been a month since I completed the Couch to 5k app and I’ve just run 5k for the first time! I spent three weeks consolidating the 3x30min runs and then took a week off because my leg was twinging. This was my second run back and I wasn’t aiming for 5k but when I got going I realised my app was not set to just measure time but set to measure a 5k distance so I thought “Okay, I’ll give it a go!” It helped that it’s a bit rainy where I am and that cooled me down. I even set a good pace by my standards so I’m currently feeling very pleased with myself!
5k at last!!!: It’s been a month since I... - Couch to 5K
5k at last!!!
Like you Jimmers I am now consolidating my postgraduate runs, I have only completed two as on one of the days I am only running a little bit, the other two days are the full 30 minute non-stop runs. My plan is after about 6 full 30 minute runs spread over 3 weeks I'll try the 10% rule and go on to a few 33 minutes runs, perhaps and just perhaps I'll be able to run a full 5k in just a little under 33 minutes, if not I will continue the next week with a 36 minute run and hopefully have that magic 5k under my belt, so to speak.
Sound like a good plan, I’m on week 9 and already trying to think of what to do next week.
Well done you!! See? You can totally do this. Very sensible and measured approach paid off handsomely for you. Brilliant!!
Well done. It’s given me some ideas on how to progress having completed c25k only yesterday. Thanks
