ChickenSaladChick26 profile image

Hello, I am a 26 year old female and today is day 3 of week 2. I am looking to lose weight and get fitter and healthier.I was 15st 11 on the 26th of May. I am currently 15 stone and my long term goal is to be 13st7stone.I would like to be 14stone 4 by end of August, in time for my holiday and my partners birthday.

I am currently doing couch to 5k on my own. I have found myself a little park near mine and I put my headphones in and listen to music.

Would like spme support and advice for a newbie like myself.

Thank you so much for reading this.

I’m around the same weight as you were at the start. That’s amazing that you’ve got down to 15 st! I have roughly the same long term goal (although maybe slightly less! I just went off what was a healthy bmi for me.

I’m 23, and last June I was 16 st 8 and I was shocked it was that much. I started going to the gym and eating slightly better and dropped down to the around 15st 9 Mark, then I started uni again in September (I’ve gone back to do a masters year) and now I just can’t shift anymore. I stopped going to the gym because of uni, but was happy to not put any back on and just kinda stick.

All my assignments were handed in in May and that’s when I started c25k (27th May). I knew I could run for around 10-15 mins on a treadmill but it’d nearly kill me, and I wanted to try running outside too.

Today was week 6 run 1, and im actually really enjoying it. I sweat a lot, but it doesn’t actually leave me feeling breathless. I mix between the treadmill and outside (although my last 4 have been treadmill!).

You’ll be fine, just take it slow and steady and keep following the programme, leaving a rest day in between.

Well done for starting and keep looking for encouragement here whenever you need it x

Well done! I’m at the same point and am wondering how I’ll get on with W3R1 tomorrow. Am doing C25K with my husband but go out on my own twice a week. I like having my music on and just going for it, doing as I’m told! It’s great not to have to make decisions for 30 mins! My husband runs too fast (in my opinion) but I just plod along at my slow pace, ever mindful of the oft-repeated advice on here to go slower than a very slow thing. I think that’s the key. I’ll follow your progress. You can do it!

I’m doing W3R1 tomorrow too! I won’t run with my husband (he’s way too fit!), but my companion is my Labrador who likes to accompany me!

Hi there, I completed Week 2 yesterday and I’m heading out on W3R1 tomorrow morning, so we’re in it together!

I’m not overweight, but I’m 54 and have just started running, so that has its own issues! I’m really enjoying it, and the app is great. I need structure to continue with challenges, and reading all the success stories of the graduates on here makes me believe I will succeed!

I use Michael Johnson as my trainer and love him!

We CAN do this! 👍🏻❤️🏃‍♀️

Let’s all run together in the morning then! Same as you I’m not overweight and do fair amount of exercise but I’m 59 and as you say that brings its own issues! Haven’t run for years before this.

You’re on! Let’s conquer W3! 💪🏻🏃‍♀️😅

Thanks for suppport everyone, I still feel so embrassed when I jog past people. I'm really slow.

The session before last about 5 young teenagers were laughing and running behind me and surely making fun of me. It didn't put me off though.

Today a woman walked past me as I was struggling because my legs were sore and she smiled, It really encouraged me and I finished the session but it was hard.

Im dreading week 3, 3 minute run *gulps*.

Thank you for welcoming me into the community.

Teenagers are horrible at times aren’t they.

We all deal with this embarrassment differently. I take a view that these people aren’t important in my life and I don’t care what they think. “It’s not what they do, it’s how I let them make me feel.”

No one knows how far you have run or how much further you will run on (especially true in the later weeks) or what interval programme you are doing.

For all they know you are Marathon or Triathalon training...

Good for you for not letting them get to you. What a mean bunch. Don’t feel embarrassed, it’s you who’s our there exercising and doing something constructive, not idiotic. ❤️

Congrats and well done, it’s daunting running outside, I’m a plodder with music for company. Made it to the end of the 9 weeks, was amazed, it actually works. Keep going and as others have said and will say again, slow down you can do this!

Stretch before and after! Best advice I have had! I’m in week 5 now but totally knew I could do it in week 2, week two is such an achievement. You’ve stuck at it and got better. After that when it got hard, I just carried on. I’d got that far, I wasn’t giving up! Well done!!!
