About to do W5r3 tomorrow and noticed it said run for 20mins!! It’s a leap from 8mins 😳 W6r1 is back down to interval runs? Is this right?

Yes it's correct. But not that much of a leap really. You've done 2x8mins and brisk walk between. So the active time in W5R3 is actually less than R2.

Have a look through all the posts on here on W5R3; lots of people have had the same question.

It's a "mind game" now. Your legs know everything they need to know. It's your mental toughness that will get you through. That and going really slowly :-)

I did it this morning. You’ll be fine - just get some good tracks on your phone to listen to and I thought I’d be counting them down (eg roughly five tracks for the 20 mins) but it went far quicker than that!

It just seemed a big leap. I’ll let you know how I get on!! Thanks for the support

Yes I’d love to know the scientific thought behind each stage given we go back to 5 and 8 min runs for week 6 run 1 ☺️

The W6 runs are tougher than they look. W5R3 gives you a taste of longer running, W6R1&2 get you a bit fitter for the final 10 long runs.

Have faith. It works. You’ll do it. It’s definately a mind game now. You can do it, you’ve prepared, your ready, don’t give in 💪👍

It's 100% right. Have a little faith in yourself or at least the programme! 👍😉

Look at the total moving time........ W5R3 is a minute shorter than your last five workouts.......... W6R1 will be the first increase in duration since the beginning of W4.

You can do it.

I’m going to plan a different route so I don’t have the hill at the bridge to contend with on my way back towards home! 🤪

Good plan! Make your runs nice & easy so you can enjoy them more. The time for pushing yourself & attempting hills will come soon enough 👍

As the others say..not a leap really...just head out slow and steady..believe in the plan and just know...you will succeed!
