First really long run overcome

Feeling very proud of myself today. I finally conquered the 16miles barrier. Was going OK until 9.85miles when my phone battery died and phone shut down. Fortunately I had started my sports watch so did 6.15miles. The latter was mostly walking as my legs refused to cooperate and let me run more than 10 seconds when I decided to try. Everything aches but otherwise I am OK.

Well done, that is a great achievement. I hate it when tech can’t keep up. Glad you were still able to record your epic outing. Refuel and rest after that 😀. Rfc x

I am a run walker for my distances, I find that I am actually faster if I start my walk breaks right from the start, it means I still can keep my pace right to the end. Do you have to get up to speed for a specified cut off time or is a just a personal thing you want to increases your pace for?

I run/walk too however due to the weather being warmer than expected and it being the first time I have done that distance I walked the lasy 10K. There is a 7hrs cut off but the organisers have assured me that if I need 7 +hours to finish I will be moved onto the pavements and supported by the back marker to the finish line although I have just messaged them to find out how long past the cut off time they will be waiting but hoping once my muscles are used to the increase in the distance it will be a bit easier when I do my 18mile run etc and I will be a bit quicker. I just want to finish.

On the day with the adrenaline running through you as well, that will pick your pace up too, my events are always at a faster pace than my training, you will be fine, 😀. I know, we do worry though don’t we. Rfc x

Yes lol. My friend said not to overthink things easy to say but not to do. It's like dieting you think if I can lose x in y weeks I will be z. Same thing with running. I know that the second half of the marathon will be a bit slower due to fatigue so the better I do the first half the more leeway I give myself. It annoys me when some people do these calculations on paper for possible finish times as anything can happen on the day. Hoping my muscles get used to the increase in distance so that on the day I will be ready. I have Cardiff Half on 6th October two weeks before my first marathon, The Yorkshire Marathon on 20th October (I did 13miles of Brighton marathon but don't count it as my first because I didn't finish)
