Strava issues

I use strava to record distance and pace. The last 3 runs of week 6 I have done 1.5 miles according to Strava and it has recorded my run wrong. Today I ran for 25mins non stop and according to strava I ran 0.1km. Has anyone else had issues or use a different app?

Feeling deflated as I have pushed myself to run further each time and I know the route is further than what strava has said.

But wow,25mins non stop running!! Woo hoo!!

Well done on the 25 minutes. I kept having issues with map my run . Kept saying I had done 0.7k when I had clearly done more. Ended up buying a garmin watch as my graduation pressie to myself.£75 on Amazon. It is a basic model but does all I need . Well worth the money if you plan to keep on running.

Well done on the run, 25 minutes is brilliant. I use Strava and it’s usually OK, for me it’s operator error! Remembering to start and stop it at the right time type of thing! I would be interested to know how accurate people find it.

This happened to me today with strava, did about 5k but it stopped recording at 3.6k. I think it might be because my phone went into battery saver mode so I'll try it on a full battery next run and see if it does the same thing.

My Strava is doing the same, says the time was 33mins but only 0.4km, so frustrating because I loved using Strava before. I've tried uninstalling then re installed it to see if it works better on my next run.

Hi there, up till now I've not used Strava as its been run/walk. So at the weekend I down loaded it and used it for my first continual run W7 to find out what sort of pace I was running. Well, holy moly, according to Strava today I ran 23.08 miles in 25 minutes.. and here's me thinking I was going at snails pace!!!! 😂 It started off OK but then had me about 10 miles away but in the hills. I've now downloaded runkeeper to see if I can run that fast again!!

I have used MMR for two years without problems.

Yesterday on screen popped up the new privacy and data protection tick box. I ticked it and started my run.

First K, 8m pace, second k ....8.5mins, 3rd k......, 4.5min pace, 4th k ...4.2m pace, 5th k....8.5m pace.

Complete rubbish, i covered in total 3.5 k at @ nice relaxed 8m per k pace. Either that or the council have completely restuctured the park and doubled the circumferance overnight!

First time it has let me down!

I may need a Garmin😀🤭👊🏼

I found from using a watch to track this that I only get accurate results when I have nothing covering it. Anything that obstructs your device from open sky can interfere with GPS connectivity including tree cover I'm guessing

I have problems with Strava. It tho is I run faster than I know I do and it pauses itself. I like Runkeeper and also track on my fitbit. I don't think any are completely accurate! A proper running watch for me for Christmas this year! 😃

What a great idea! I never know what to ask for 😊

Like everyone else, I've tried my fair share of tracking apps. All have their issues and it's a case of finding one that works for you.

Main causes of problems are pausing when popping phone into your pocket, power saving where it only sends GPS signals a limited number of times which is a disaster when you run a "there and back" as it cuts out a whole section in the middle of your run as it doesn't recognise this is you on your way back and cuts out the loop (this is one of my favs!!!) and then the good old glitch in GPS. The latter can be resolved by a phone restart, good idea right before you go out. The power saver is better turned off, it does not play well with tracking.

I also use Strava which is the best so far for me.

One thing I did find was running my Fitbit Blaze using the exercise function that uses the phones GPS alongside any app was a no-go. Both would crash. That went for not just GPS apps like my Strava, but also the Couch app. No idea why.

I just turn the GPS off and track as normal run exercise on Fitbit, esp as the GPS was always miles out anyway.

Finding a route where you know the distance is key, otherwise you're still left guessing. Both MMR and Strava allow custom routes which you can add using your laptop/pc and that way you can plan a route using mapping and you'll see the distance on there. So you can map ahead of time, or map out your route when you get home.

Another tip I haven't thought of is checking your Google Maps. In there there's a timeline, but mine did include my warm up. Still, it was a good record of distance and I think it had an editing function.

Ok, so this is a lot of info and you'll gather that I've had a lot of fun with the various issues you're experiencing.

You don't need to try them all, just try a few things and see how you go.

Number one on my list is a simple restart, cause it's easy!

Good luck!

Just ran for 35 minutes, which should be a bit over 5k after 27 minutes Strava announced I’d completed 1k. Having said that I used my fit bit the other week and managed 12k in a similar time. Not sure if I’m a snail or Mo fara.
