Now I know you are thinking beer, prosecco... but no, running as a spectacle wearer is becoming a bit of a nuisance. I wear glasses and have a pair of prescription sunnies. My sunnies are looser than my glasses but both of them slide down my nose and steam up - particularly now I am wk 8 and doing longer runs and getting even steamier.
Does anyone have any tips for us four eyed runners?

I'm a four eyed runner too, and my sunnies are also much looser than my everyday glasses, so I now just don't even attempt at running in my sunglasses. I do have to push my other glasses up my nose but it's not too bad. The worst thing I find is running in the rain. I've tried wearing a cap to keep the rain of the lenses, which works to an extent unless the wind is blowing or the rain isn't vertical.
You can get elastic attachments which go round the back of your head to stop slippage, but I haven't looked into this, but I probably will now that you've asked about it. I believe you can also get anti mist sprays and a spray which deters the rain from staying your glasses which might help. And perhaps I should look into that too.
I started the c25K nearly 2 years ago and have managed well enough with my glasses, so don't let them irritate you too much.
Yep. I push them up when sweaty. I ran half marathon when it was a bit on a chilly side so that was fine but l also ran in high heat/humidity when l had to push them up a few times although a lot of is down to your posture (l run straight with my head up). Of course, in order to parade my Ray Bans l, at times, will wear my contacts. Nothing beats a trendy runner’s snobbery, no matter how hard you try.
I wear glasses and my day to day normal prescription sunnies have worked out fine for me. No slippage, so lucky there. You could do a search for running sunglasses, and get your lenses fitted? Here's some ideas to get you started runnersworld.com/gear/g2085...
Have you tried contact lenses? I've just started wearing them and they have changed my life. I got them mainly because I do a lot of hiking and I get sick of them slipping down my nose, and so when I started running I was thankful that I had decided to switch to lenses.
And when it's sunny, I just wear a cap to keep the sun out of my eyes, (and it's also great for keeping hair our of the way too so double win!)
You can get all sorts of different lens options, I'm on the wear once and throw away, 5x per week. But you can go for less or more. Definitely recommend and they didn't take too long to get used to.
Thanks for your reply. I did wear contacts for 20 years (52 now) and did abuse them quite a bit but it might be a good idea to look at some daily disposables - it's an obvious idea now you mention it but one I hadn't considered.
Good morning. Oh boy the joys of wearing glasses.
I have an astigmatism in both eyes and so have to wear my glasses all the time.
My glasses don't really slip as I run but I do feel as if I have to take them off and dry my nose bridge every so often. So always have tissue in my hand.
My prescription sunglasses tend to be alot more loose than my glasses and so I just don't bother to run in them. Tried it once and regretted it.
I do take my disposable lenses wipes with me but then again I take them everywhere I go as I dislike dirty lenses.
I am also a bit fed up of the issues we spectacle wearers have to endure and so I think a trip to the optician for a pair of running glasses is going to happen very soon.
I’m blind as a bat but am a contact lens wearer so don’t suffer the same problem. The lenses are much more comfortable than they used to be and with daily disposables you don’t need to faff around with solutions or expiry dates .
If that’s not an option it might be worth taking your specs to the opticians for adjustment , or to buy a sports strap to fit on them .
My glasses don't slip but I am not looking forward to wearing them in the rain! I'm due to run tomorrow morning and the forecast is wet so I'm going to try running without them. Luckily I run on rural roads so I don't have to cross road junctions because I am fairly blind without them
I have astigmatism and am now both short and long sighted - so wear varifocals. Gave up on contacts some years ago as the weighted lenses I had to have just moved around too much. I have a lovely plastic visor ( 99p from Tiger) which I wear in the rain. Steaming up is much more of a problem and I have resorted to just taking them off sometimes as I can see better half blind than through the steamy fog. Going to ask optician about laser surgery when I next go. I think they adjust one eye for distance and one for close up. Would love to be able to see.
Thank you to all of you that replied to me. It's great to hear how others are managing. I have ordered a rubber strap to attach to my glasses and will give contact lenses a go again. Wk 8 run2 tomorrow👍
