Core Strength

I’ve recently started the 30 Day Plank Challenge as I read an article saying that core strength helps to improve running. I’ve noticed a difference after just 5 days and have started to add in some crunches each day as well. Does anyone have any other exercise tips that might help?

Wow! What does the 30 day challenge consist of?

Well done. I’d say squats are very good as are lunges and leg raises. Google some there are a few around. 😊

Thanks I’ll have a look. It’s good to know what’s worked for other people. Being a cynic I wasn’t expecting much but I am really surprised at the difference the additional exercise has made, and it’s only a couple of minutes a day. 😀

I’ve been doing weight/strength training since starting C25k and has helped. Day after workout can be agony but doesn’t affect the running! 😊

Wow, that sounds amazing. Do you have a personal trainer? I wouldn’t know where to start!

It’s just increasing the length of time you can hold the plank position each day. The one I’m doing is on the Running Bug website but there are lots of variations if you google it. This one starts at 30 seconds so it’s good for beginners like me! Definitely worth a try as it’s only a couple of minutes out of your day.
