Week 6 Run 1 - People warned me!

Hi all.

I have been progressing through the C25K app and had a very good week 5, started week 6 and said to myself don't get over confident ran at a steady pace.... but the whole thing was awful, managed to finish all the intervals but literally everything hurt! (more than usual by a long stretch).

Is this because of the big week completed for week 5, does it get any better through the week :-)

Cheers

Adam

I to was warned by other posts regarding run 1 of week 6 which involved two 3 minute walks and went very carefully not to injure myself, yes it does get better with day 2 and 3, the third being a 25-minute run. When you have completed R3W6 they tell you that you are "officially a runner", once you hear that you will be very happy that you have succeeded with your running.

You're in good company Adam my friend. Everyone finds W6 a tricky one, unless they're borderline psychos 😂

R1 and R2 are both a bit tricky. Just slow it down a bit. R3 comes as relief, no walk breaks. 25 mins of running and W7 is identical.

When you've nailed R3 you can almost smell the linament on the podium 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♂️

Thanks for the replies!

Glad i'm not on my own, I did read on here that it was a tough week and thought I had prepared for it by being as slow as I could but like I said everything hurt.

Biggest thing is not letting it put me off the next run, which is tomorrow, fingers crossed....

Yes, it will be good to see the end of the intervals as it will seem a sense of achievement in itself.

Cheers. Guys.

Yep start of week 6 was tough. I've just completed WK 6 run 3. 25 mins run (well jog for me!) Which I never thought I could do. Keep at it

Tbh after W5R3 I gave myself an extra day recovery before attempting W6R1. It worked a treat. I will use the same tactic between W6R3 and W7R1.

That extra day just allows the body to be ready for the next progression.

Like every other new week it is harder than the week before. Most of us get caught out as on paper the run/ walk looks easier than the long run we have just smashed. Although, the truth is the stop/start means you never settle into a rhythm, and your body is always in a state of playing catch up. Good cardio workout though, but not a fun run.
