Problems at the 5 week mark :(

Hi all,

I'm new here but have been reading posts over the last few weeks whilst tackling C25K.

I'm not terribly unfit, I do a lot of cycling, but I am certainly new to running and don't find it easy at all. However after repeating week 3 and 4 I found myself feeling fitter and fitter and really enjoying it.

I stopped in a running shop one lunch about two weeks ago and had a gait analysis done which said I was an over pronater, and I bought a pair of Saucony running shoes to replace my crusty old gym shoes

Unfortunately I've developed big issues going into week 5 since. Pain in both knees behind the knee caps. I had to give up 5 minutes into run 3 of week 5 as the pain was so bad.

It can only be these new stability shoes.

Couple of questions, how long should I rest my knees for before I start back again, and is it silly to ditch the stability shoes and go back to my neutral cheapo gym shoes which were causing me no issues a couple of weeks ago?

Perhaps go back to the shop and ask their advice? I also had the gait analysis and bought some new shoes 👟 and they said I should go back if I had any problems with them. Most of these specialist shops are very helpful. Hope you get it sorted soon

Thanks. Yes I'm going back today. I've already had an online chat with them and they did say they would not refund or exchange the shoes as they had been worn, however I'm hoping the folks in the shop will be a little more customer friendly. It's impossible to properly test shoes without running in them at least once.

Just to add, the shop I went to also sold me some insoles which they shaped around my feet/tread. I certainly felt the difference immediately. Technology!!

Take the shoes back and explain the situation.
