Slowly jogging into Week 5 😃

Morning all!

Thank you so much to everyone who has given me great advice so far. I had a crisis of confidence in Week 4 but the advice to slow down and trust the process has really helped.

Just completed Week 5, Run 1. Over a week ago, I did not think I would be able to do a 5 minute run. I just did three and really felt like I had hit my stride. It’s not easy yet by any means, but considering I couldn’t run the length of myself five weeks ago, I am very proud of the progress I have made!

If you have any top tips for ‘surviving’ week 5, do let me know!

Don't 'survive' it ... EMBRACE it! Enjoy it!

I am enjoying it very much. I continually prove myself wrong and that’s challenging but so rewarding. So pleased with my progress

The philosophy behind C25k is "No pain, no pain" as outlined here bigmedium.com/ideas/c25k.html

You should not be pushing hard at any time, as it is an easy conversational pace that builds your stamina, strength and injury resistance..........not the old school "No pain, no gain", which is so twentieth century.

This breakdown of W5 explains the structure of the coming week healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

Relax and enjoy it.

I actually found Week 5 to be one of the easiest in the programme.

You've already survived the Big Step Up which is Week 4.

Don't overthink it. Go out and put one foot in front of the other. Take it easy and give yourself permission to enjoy it.

Thank you! I am about to do the first 20 minute run and I’m feeling ever so slightly intimidated. I think I can do it though

Switch off your brain and don't think about the time. It'll pass quickly enough.

Week 5 ends with a run that will leave you grinning for days, enjoy it and take it really slow and you will amaze yourself

That’s my next one. Intimidating but I’m sure I will manage 😂

I love your expression ‘I couldn’t run to the end of myself’ 😃. Week 5 take it slow and you will keep going. Get past the ‘toxic 10’ and I think the determination to do it will kick in

I found WK4 a challenge also. Like yourself I willed myself through it and I've now progressed to starting WK8. If I can do it I'm certain that you can also. As everyone else has advised just take it slowly.

Well folks. I did it 😄 Just did my first ever 20 minute run. I can’t believe it! I went into it feeling so negative - ‘your legs feel heavy today’, ‘you're wearing the wrong clothes’, ‘you’re feeling tired and it’s only five minutes in.’ Next thing I knew, Sanjeev was telling me that I had done 15 minutes and was so close to finishing. I’ll admit, I had to slow down some more for the last five minutes but I did it! I never thought I could manage anything like this!!! I’m so unbelievably proud. For me, this journey is 100% mind over matter. I keep proving myself wrong and I love it!
