What does everyone eat on running days I have a coffee and small banana before I go out. I don’t usually want anything else for a couple of hours, but I do seem to feel hungrier than usual for the rest of the day Just wondered if anyone else does too

Post run food
Beware “hungry” may really be “thirsty”...
I eat nothing usually before a run, sometimes a banana. Always a banana after and a cup of tea, one sugar, after shower.
I always have a drink after my run
I run early morning, with water but no food before running, then more water plus breakfast after. I’m definitely hungrier since reaching the longer runs, but I just let myself eat more, as I don’t weigh much and am not running to lose weight.
I also like a banana before if I remember to pick them up. A wee bitty later I'll have my normal meal, salmon and potatoes or sometimes a ristirante (spelling!) Pizza. Except Fridays, if I run on a Friday it's really whatever happens, tonight it is an Indian takeaway. Chicken tikka masala with mushroom pilau rice. Just because. 😉
Yum 😋
I do my runs in the morning, at least 1 hour after breakfast, that also goes for other exercises I do except cycling, strangely enough, when I go for a cycling run I just go out straight after a meal, I could not go out running immediately after a meal.
I run very early in the morning, 5am. I have some water before I go out a coffee post run then have my breakfast at work at about 7.45 when I get there. Usually weetabix, blueberries, strawberries, banana and alpro coconut milk.
A burger?
I’ve read on here to have half a banana about an hour before you run for energy.
I run around 8:30pm so a few ours after my main meal and try not to eat anything after.
I’ve heard it’s best to run on an empty stomach and eat after as your body is still burning calories. If you run after you’ve eaten your body stops digesting the food because you need your energy for the exercise. I think the food gets stored as fat.
You’d have to look that up though it’s just something I heard but I do try to follow it.
I've tried to run 3 hours after eating, it was not pretty. So I pace myself through the day with light meals. You're lucky it has no effect, much more freedom to run when you like.
If I didn’t like my evening runs so much I’d consider running in the mornings so I could go before breakfast and then eat loads after while my body is still burning those calories.
Running after food didn’t work out so well for me today. I don’t think I left enough time in between eating and running.
